New Head Coach

If ever Lampard rocks up here I will be gutted. He is so clueless it is weird, considering his football career. I saw him up close at Derby and in my opinion he is hopeless. Tactically bonkers. I was at a terrible game of football at Wembley when his team lost to a dreadful Villa. He absolutely froze. It was a painful watch. I dont like calling out coaches but honestly he is not up to the task with us in my opinion.

I wouldn't be against a back 4 of..

Hume LB
Hjelde LCB
Onien RCB
Pembele RB

I do like Seelt though so if it's a straight swap for Ballard then that's fair enough as well.
I have doubts about Seelt personally. I worry about him being turned and his reading. Big chance for him now and I hope he takes it and I am proved wrong. I know someone who has seen him before he came here and saya he has a massive future. Fingers crossed he does enough to show if Ballard goes we have the next cab off the rank.

Good to hear that we both have the same view on Frank Lampard. He needs to give up on any thoughts of a continuing career in football management. I wonder what he is like as a coach?

Had Mount and Tomori and finished on less points than McClaren the season before if I call correctly?

Looking at the Forest financial results, did Cooper get them promoted by spending **** loads of money rather than tactical brilliance?

If Will Still still comes in he will still, presumably, want to bring in at least some of his own team. I think the thing with Dodds and Proctor assisting Beale was just to thank them for filling in previously. It might also indicate that the club thought of Beale as a temporary option. I think you have to retain certain key staff in certain positions though to keep the continuity that the DoF/Head Coach system is meant to provide. Allowing each Head Coach to bring in a whole new staff each time defeats the point of it.

Which is why, I think, we will eventually have to look to foreign coaches who are more used to this kind of system.

His brother is on his staff. No chance he jumps ship and leaves his brother unemployed.

To be honest, whoever we finally appoint there will be a small, but very vocal group of 'supporters' against the appointment. They are always happy to have a dig at the club. I don't know what peoples honest expectations are, but we are only a second tier club in England. We are not going to get Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool in the summer and coming to Sunderland. It'll either be a young up and coming manager like Will Still, or someone with pedigree from a lesser competitive league in Europe(maybe that Polish bloke). Whoever we appoint will get my full backing and just hope it works out. I will not be calling for him to be sacked either on appointment, like Beale, or after a couple of defeats.

Spot on. Personally, I am not really sure why they both have been thrust into the main positions and actually a barrier to brining in top quality main head coaches. How many across the world would come with a demand that they both are prominent and on the first team bench ?

I hope Dodds smashes it and wins all games and gets it permanent btw. I just find it mad that we are reducing the pool of potential head coaches due to the obsession with proc and Dodds progression.
For me I thought Dodds was doing a fantastic job with the youth set up and it seems to me we may have weakened out development side with him being moved to first team duties, however I would not want his progression and career path to be ignored either. Did we ever replace him when he was moved to first team duties ??? I don't recall hearing anything. My opinion is that he was doing a great job where he was and firmly believe that he probably needed a couple more seasons slowly integrating to first team affairs. However I hope he smashes it out of the park but I do have some niggling reservations in the back of my mind.

As long as we appoint someone who lends the club a bit of prestige people will be happy in the main. Doesn't matter if they know nowt about them, if they feel we're punching above our weight they'll be welcomed.

Will Still has his brother with him on his staff, I don't think anyone else but can't be sure.

Yep, his younger brother Nicolas. He stepped in for him not so long ago when he had a touchline ban. His older brother, Edward, was manager of Kortrijk until recently. I think I've read that there might be someone else. I can't see him going anywhere without Nicolas and the club will have to accept that if they want him. I think they will though. As I said in my earlier post, I think all this Dodds and Proctor stuff is a red herring and another stick to beat the regime with.

Not at Sunderland right now it hasn’t though so something needs to change and if you aren’t even doing the basics correctly that’s what will be pointed out because that’s what people see first. Who’s utilised out of their natural position that’s playing out of their skin?

Bardsley at LB, Seb Larsson at CM, Danny Collins at LB, Kirchoff DM. We’re talking about this sect of the fanbase being repeat offenders.

****ing hate the arrogant ****er

I have to agree.

He always looks like he finds it incredibly tedious having to speak to people he sees as beneath him. If he's like that with players and staff it's no surprise he can't inspire them.

We need someone with a bit of fire to enthuse everyone ...

... Lampard never looks enthusiastic about anything.

Have a feeling Still might end up using us to get the attention of West Ham.

Could definitely see him end up there.

Liking this not because I'm happy we are used in that way but I think he will use us to get a premier league club to take the chance before he goes anywhere else! And at the moment most likely West Ham.

I wonder what happened after Mowbray left? Did he use us to try and get a bit more from his current club?

We shouldn't be writing any candidates off before they get here. As that's the main criticism some fans have levelled at other fans re: Beale
Yep. I can see why Lampard would appeal to Speakman. He went into Chelsea when they were under a transfer embargo and had no choice but to bring through the youth into the first team. He done a very decent job under the circumstances.
