Connolly's pressing is certainly better and I don't think he loses the ball as much. I just looked at his last 'full' game (I think he came off after 45 but Ohio played 45 on the weekend so reasonably like-for-like) against Sheff Weds where we as a team were awful, and even in those circumstances he only lost the ball 5 times as opposed to Ohio's 10, and won 3 of 9 ground duels rather than 1 of 8. Stats are never the full picture and it's a small sample, but in the previous game against Blackburn (where he scored) Connolly won 3 of 5 ground duels, 2 of 4 aerial duels, and only lost possession 7 times in 81 minutes. I think he offers a lot more, so if he's fit he'd start for me with Ohio getting the last 20-30 if we need him.
Bottom line is we have three available strikers, none of whom really provide what the team requires. Ohio was a panic signing who can't retain possession, Connolly is fragile and lacks physical presence and Sharp is too old. LR tries to make the best of it by alternating with a false 9 system which doesn't really work and for all the talent 'in the building' we still struggle to score more than a goal a game. Most on here were nervous of starting the season with only two recognised strikers and the most we can do now is hope it doesn't come back to bite us on the arse.

His absence has had nothing to do with his toe, where did you read that?

I've said this a few times but it's really weird how much coverage that toe gets. This season he's missed maybe one game with it, but people never stop talking about what a problem it is.

As someone else very correctly said.... goal difference may well be the deciding factor for us...

I went to Huddersfield and enjoyed the occasion/atmosphere immensely. Unfortunately I did not get a great view of the game to comment on tactics. However, I have just watched the full match replay and here are my thoughts:

Greaves was outstanding.

Referee had a good performance. Didn’t give us a fair few free kicks that perhaps should have been. I only counted two that we got, that were a bit soft.

Sorba Thomas and Rudoni are good players (as I knew already). But are no doubt a pair of d***heads!

Sorba Thomas was also rightly booked for being disrespectful at the corner. Not sure he would have behaved like this if it was a male referee. EDIT: Also should have had a second yellow late on!

Zaroury had a good game and the times he lost it was when he was showing attacking intent and it nearly came off. Not sure why he keeps getting criticised. I think he’s excellent.

Carvalho had a much better game again. I’m really warming to him.

Team actually played really well and took the sting out the game. Huddersfield are not a bad side but do not have quality all over the pitch like we do.

Ohio did some good stuff too. His touch is a bit heavy but he definitely offers a presence if we are going to play one striker up front.

Omur looks very comfortable on the ball.

In summary, Huddersfield fans are a set of whinging c***s and it makes reading their forum’s match thread even better.

Let’s bring on those teams around us now and see what we can do. I have a feeling we’re going to do this. UTT.

That Thomas booking for dissent was such a weird incident. It was like he was trying to get booked, or trying to test what it would take to get booked by a female ref. Ridiculously flamboyant display of dissent.

What's even more weird are the continuing derogatory comments about Ohio.

Still think he has a foot issue which needs to be managed, but the reason for the absence following Norwich was concussion then shoulder.

I agree about the negative comments being wide of the mark on both Zaroury and Ohio... Ohio for definite seems to be loving it here and Zaroury whilst not having reached the heights is one of the top 5/6 players in the squad currently IMO. Maybe he just needs a goal which he very nearly got with his first shot in the shirt... Ohio has already made some eat their words, I hope Zaroury does tomorrow and if not then on Saturday.

Not being derogatory but nobody can reasonably claim that he's up to the standard of those around him. He is what he is - a young player brought in at the last minute, without troubling FFP, to fill the massive hole left by Delap.

Don't think anyone can reasonably claim anything definitive having only played 83 mins in 3 appearances so far, other than that a goal in those 83 minutes is a better strike rate that Delap, Connolly or Sharp currently.

The criticism of Zaroury is pretty amazing , even at lower level you had days when nothing worked , or you thought you were up for it but weren’t , he must be really impressed with the patience of some on this forum . If these guys were as good as some hoped or expected they wouldn’t be here would they , if they are inconsistent then that’s why they are here not at Burnley or Luton etc

He's definitely not lived up to expectations so far and I don't think that's overly critical in the slightest. He's not played a lot of football this season, so some rustiness is expected but we just need a little bit more from him.

That can't happen if he's getting splinters from the bench.
