For me Ohio had a better touch than Oscar or no worse - he just didn’t use his build enough and stopped chasing - he needs to put a 90 minute shift into a 25 minute subs period otherwise Allsopp will be forgotten or Ohio will wish he lived there !

Ohio gave the ball away 10 times and won 1 of his 8 ground duels. Doesn't strike me as someone with a good first touch or ball retention ability.

Not sure Connolly is the right type of player to be the focal point of the attack but we’ll have to wait and see what the management think.

He's our top scorer, he obviously does something right. Worked as our main striker against Boro and Coventry for instance. Other than Blackburn I don't actually think he's scored all that much off the bench, but rather from the start. His workrate and physicality certainly lends itself to starting for us.

I don't think taking off Tufan for Coyle is random really?

We've heard Giles isn't that great in defence, so bring on Coyle and allow Jacob to move over to the left, his more natural position.

Can push Giles up a bit - and try and give more pace to a midfield that as the post above - was struggling a bit.

I didn't see the game, so this is only my assumption of what happened - happy to be corrected - but it feels fairly standard to me.

It's a perfectly normal sub, the kind anyone who's followed football for a while has seen dozens of times. Holding onto a lead, on comes a defensive player or two to help see it out.

Seems like recently some people almost pretend to be less familiar with the game than they are in order to give them more things to be outraged about. Not just at City but across the board. Tedious.

I'd rather start Connolly.

I think he has similar weaknesses in his game to be honest. Obviously a good player, but if you want someone to keep possession under pressure it isn't him.

That said, he might be better at staying on the ref's good side than Ohio is. It's an underrated skill; some players seem to win free kicks a lot while others give fouls away almost every time there's a duel. Noah so far seems to be towards the latter end of that spectrum.

Connolly's pressing is certainly better and I don't think he loses the ball as much. I just looked at his last 'full' game (I think he came off after 45 but Ohio played 45 on the weekend so reasonably like-for-like) against Sheff Weds where we as a team were awful, and even in those circumstances he only lost the ball 5 times as opposed to Ohio's 10, and won 3 of 9 ground duels rather than 1 of 8. Stats are never the full picture and it's a small sample, but in the previous game against Blackburn (where he scored) Connolly won 3 of 5 ground duels, 2 of 4 aerial duels, and only lost possession 7 times in 81 minutes. I think he offers a lot more, so if he's fit he'd start for me with Ohio getting the last 20-30 if we need him.

They're perhaps planning on taking more time getting Connolly back in what with the seemingly consistent toe issues. We may end up only seeing him as an impact sub until season's end.

What a great place to be in the 95th minute of our match on Saturday...The John Smiths Stadium :1980_boogie_down:

I think we need to give him a bit of time to get used to English football at this level. I think he’ll do ok and hopefully help to keep us in the race until Delap gets back!
He’s got Jozy written all over him, trapping and passing the ball is the same in all countries. He’s played here before

His absence has had nothing to do with his toe, where did you read that?

Giles is better than Jacob at defending, he looks calm and assured to me.

I went to Huddersfield and enjoyed the occasion/atmosphere immensely. Unfortunately I did not get a great view of the game to comment on tactics. However, I have just watched the full match replay and here are my thoughts:

Greaves was outstanding.

Referee had a good performance. Didn’t give us a fair few free kicks that perhaps should have been. I only counted two that we got, that were a bit soft.

Sorba Thomas and Rudoni are good players (as I knew already). But are no doubt a pair of d***heads!

Sorba Thomas was also rightly booked for being disrespectful at the corner. Not sure he would have behaved like this if it was a male referee. EDIT: Also should have had a second yellow late on!

Zaroury had a good game and the times he lost it was when he was showing attacking intent and it nearly came off. Not sure why he keeps getting criticised. I think he’s excellent.

Carvalho had a much better game again. I’m really warming to him.

Team actually played really well and took the sting out the game. Huddersfield are not a bad side but do not have quality all over the pitch like we do.

Ohio did some good stuff too. His touch is a bit heavy but he definitely offers a presence if we are going to play one striker up front.

Omur looks very comfortable on the ball.

In summary, Huddersfield fans are a set of whinging c***s and it makes reading their forum’s match thread even better.

Let’s bring on those teams around us now and see what we can do. I have a feeling we’re going to do this. UTT.
