Are all development signings not punts?
You're investing time and a little bit of money in potential which isn't always realised. Besides not every kid in a youth system is going to be the next big thing, but you still need numbers for the group anyway to bring on the ones who do make it and do make a profit.
So he wasn't Roseys signing but you still expect him to be first team ready, besides the fact that our Academy/23s system is doing relatively well. It's clearly paying for itself so stop clutching at straws for something to criticise.
If you think Rosie had nothing to with signing him then your massively mistaken
Surprised we’re not in for Diallo, apparently Middlesbrough and Southampton are trying to get him.
Maybe not 5 seasons, but something tells me that perhaps the expectation would reasonably have been a little more than 4 and a bit months as our No. 1?
Rosenior wanted to bring 'his man' in. A poor decision. Just another waste of time, effort and money, and opportunity cost.
£250k for a few month 'stop gap'? OK, that's not a lot of money, but add in a 2 year contract, all for a few month 'stop gap'? Surely you'd just go for someone on a half season or season long loan wouldn't you?
This sports journo didn't see it as a stop gap or 5th choice..
It seems some go to lengths to defend poor decisions when the reality is blindingly obvious.
- Hull City have completed a £250,000 move for Cardiff City goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who was identified as their top choice by manager Liam Rosenior.
Strange comparison, Harper was a very good keeper and could actually save shots. Should’ve played in the cup final too with McGregor not fully fit.We missed out on a number of keeping targets but wanted someone who could play with the ball at his feet. Allsop was clearly brought in as a stop-gap. As OLM said, you're making an awfully big assumption that Pandur will come in and Allsop will just never play again. Even putting that aside, having him as a back up keeper is also fine given our outlay on him. We bought Steve Harper when we were in the PL and he barely played but when he did he was fine for instance. No waste at all.

Also Harper was brought in as backup not as first choice keeper.
4 or 5 year contractEven the fact he's here on a two year contract not a four or five year contract says a lot. We've got a year out of him as essentially first choice, and if Pandur is as good as you claim, he'll be a Cup and depth keeper next season and then we'll consider our options with him.
Yeah Rosenior has never been exageratedly positive for the sake of it. You honestly believe he was our first choice when Tan and others spoke of our pursuit of Darlow?
4 or 5 year contract
"If Pandur is as good as you claim". I've not claimed anything about him!!! Other than expecting, like most others, that he's brought in to be our #1.
A year out of Alsop as #1?!? 4 & a bit months
We are nearly paying 1.5 million for Pandur he won’t be number two for long. Especially the way pan hands performs. Ingham will be off I assume.
If you assume Ingram's off then we've paid 250k for someone to be back up keeper who we've already got maybe 10 games out of. Is that a waste? Would it have been more palatable if we'd got Pandur in the summer and then decided to bring in some depth 6 months later?
I just don't get the teeth gnashing over Allsop, Furlong et al when they cost peanuts.
Axes to grind.
FFS stop talking crap, just because someone has a different view and or opinion to you doesn't mean they have an axe to grind.
And as for it only being £250k etc. I'd rather of saved that £250k + wages etc by not signing a player that has given us no real improvement over what we already had and then spent that £250k on revamping the recruitment team we have and bring in people who can find us players that actually improve us and not players like allsop.

No you wouldn’t.
