Give him a go as the defensive midfielder many say we need. He’s big he can pick a pass and the only time he stops anything going past him is with his feet anyway ….

It was said at the time Furlong was a development signing and not necessarily an immediate first team option. He might be 21 but he'd only played youth football before half a season at the bottom end of the SPL last year, which is probably L2 standard realistically.

People saying he'd played for Brighton in the PL - no he hadn't. He filled a bench place on a single occasion and had never got on the pitch.

He wasn't a Rosenior signing, as stated in his interviews immediately after the last window, he was a Darno/Pardo development punt, and of there was even a fee, it's not significant enough to have been listed on transfermarkt.

Rosenior has recently stated these kinds of signings 'come to me late in the process' and mostly in the hands of Darno and Beri.

Dunno how people are considering Furlong as either ready, or even a first team signing. Let alone one to beat Rosenior over the head with.

Jacob is ahead of him. Always was and we'd have seen him sooner if it wasn't his for injury in pre season.

A tricky one to call. Burnley bought him from MK Dons in 2022, he featured 18 times then got sent out on loan to us where he featured 26 times. I’m guessing that the Scott Twine that played for MK Dons was not the player Burnley paid £4m for. Nor was he the player that signed for us. So when your lot offer more than they actually paid for him, they must’ve thought it was Christmas!!
If you get the MK Dons Twine, you’ve got a player, if you’ve signed the Burnley version, you may be left scratching your heads why you’ve agreed to spaff £5m on him?
Suppose you need to ask the question, with relegation looking fairly likely, why haven’t they kept him to get them out of the championship next season??

You say Allsop can't save a shot for his life, he's a goalkeeper for goodness sake that is primally what he is there for.

Apparently not, but he's supposed to be going on loan.

Either way, it's not a Rosenior fist team squad signing so if doesn't work out its on Beri/Darno - even though it's cost nowt.

Won't stop you frothing in blind ignorance of that fact though, I'm sure.

They’ve taken him on loan with no option to buy, which also means we agreed to terminate the loan, and so we’re happy for him to leave.

Apparently there's a pre arranged obligation fee in summer to get them past FFP.

But you're right to the extent that once Carvalho came in and with Jaden coming back he'd have been getting limited minutes here.

I just wonder if we moved for carvalho due to Bristol's offer to Burnley for Twine, or we were going to do it regardless because Twine hasn't quite cut the mustard.

Letting Twine go to bring in another wideman would represent better squad balance though - obviously dependent on who else we bring in.

Seems a win win for me. If its a straight swap Carvalho for Twine then I think most championship sides would do what we've done.

It’s just a loan with no option to buy, let alone an agreed fee. Maybe Burnley though that he’d fare better with us?

I have a feeling he’s surplus to our requirements and we want to curry some favour with Burnley so instead of leading them astray we’ve been honest and moved on. Best for all party’s, I feel he can be the main man with you lot which can bring the best out of him. He was an after thought and at times a scapegoat with us so was up against it.

Blind ignorance of what, that our scattergun approach to academy recruitment is frankly ****e. Does it not show that the recruitment programme is flawed... we take 'punts' to use you verbage which is not the strategy that the club seem to want to follow in developing 'Talent" for profit... other people are saying lets go after not one but two but three players form Peterborough, it shows that the development of our selected falls way short of even where they are.

I agree about his positional sense,it's awful.
I very seldom have a dig at individual players but I tend to agree with the comments regarding Allsop.I don't think he's got a clue where his posts are when a shot's fired in at him.We could do with much better between the sticks...

Are all development signings not punts?

You're investing time and a little bit of money in potential which isn't always realised. Besides not every kid in a youth system is going to be the next big thing, but you still need numbers for the group anyway to bring on the ones who do make it and do make a profit.

So he wasn't Roseys signing but you still expect him to be first team ready, besides the fact that our Academy/23s system is doing relatively well. It's clearly paying for itself so stop clutching at straws for something to criticise.

By the sound of it we've had to agree to terminate his loan unless they are selling so not really Burnley's choice. I agree he'll probably fare better with you though as you'll play him in his preferred position. Just don't get your hopes up too much
