The club over the last 2 years have proven that they know more than us and are more capable of picking the next manager . We are used to the "bad management" but now i think we have people who understand football , none of the magic carpet ride , just plain commonsense and a plan . So trust them to get the best manager they can, they chose TM and he wasnt so bad so lets stick together and enjoy the new improved carpet ride

What a lovely warm post ...

... totally vitriol free, I'll raise a glass to you <cheers>

WTF, how am I twisting anything anything?

He said he'd put LJ ahead of Beale.

Then he said he'd never slated LJ.

When challenged he admitted he demanded LJ was sacked.

That's exactly what he posted, no question.
You’re twisting stuff mate, and you know you are.
I was always protective of LJ, until it was clear change was needed. Until the bitter end I was happy to give LJ more time, but the Bolton game was the last straw for me.
And yes I would rather have LJ back before Beale.
In my 50+ years of supporting SAFC. I’ve not been in favour of very few appointments, those being McManymoney, MON, and Mowbray.
Beale will be the next. His pressers are worse than Mowbrays, and my gut feeling is that he’s out of his depth.

Trust them to get the best manager they can...yet nobody trusted them last summer when there were massive rumours about us being in for Farioli. Everyone had a hissy fit. The rest is history...

Ive not commented in the last few days but on reflection I’m good with Beale.

Having been involved with Chelsea and Liverpool he’ll surely have high standards and be used to high expectations. I’m hoping the experience of being the main man in a high pressure job will have been a huge learning curve and he’ll be better for it. I’d expect he’ll want to prove a point as well. If he bombs here he’ll not get another chance anywhere decent.

The coaching in Brazil and learning Portuguese to get the job is pretty impressive tbf. I hope that unlike LJ he learns lessons and improves due to a failure.

I would have liked one of the Scandinavian coaches linked but have not been that fussed on Still. I wasn’t too impressed with his video (coaches voices I think) where he got a 0-0 against a weakened PSG who played with ten men for an hour.

Another point is that most of the linked names including Still and Hellburg had received their praise for doing great jobs with plucky underdogs, they’d not had any expectations on them and therefore as far as I can see, done very well but with no pressure. Nobody knows how they would do with a big crowd and a massive expectation on them.

There can’t be many people who were happy with Alex Neil and Mowbray but I was one and got a bit stick for backing both appointments so I’ll stick my neck out again and say I think MB will do well but it might take a little while.

(I’m also pissing the prediction league so you should listen :emoticon-0105-wink:)

Hoping tomorrow is the day for Beale. Be great to have him in this week and taking coaching. I think having a few days ahead of the festive period to start getting to know each other is going to be key. The appt has already taken longer than I would have preferred.

I am 100% in the Beale camp. I see no evidence for the feeling of being underwhelmed of even angry. He has been in the very best coaching structures for 20 years. He is obsessed by the game and by his own learning. He looks better than Still, Helberg etc every time I look at the records and the experience they will have gained. I couldnt give a toss if he uses buzzwords, or mgt speak, not one toss. If the players understand it, and I suspect they will easily, then it is all that matters. I am convinced he is a perfect fit for us, and do not underestimate his knowledge of young players and his contacts to get a loan deal smoothed. If at the end of the day his press conferences are annoying I will turn them off. I was a huge fan of Mowbray, but I rarely watched his press conferences because I didnt really think he enjoyed giving them and they were stale. I cant wait to see what Beale does with these players, who are still learning the game mostly. The next piece of the puzzle for some of them is how to play different types of games, or different in game situations, and I hope Beale is the sort of coach that can give them that knowledge. Lets get cracking now, starting tomorrow.

Rate you highly as a poster, but how you can say you don't understand being underwhelmed by Beale is beyond me. He's the definition of an underwhelming appointment. Whether he ends up being amazing or not is within his grasp...but you started off this process saying that the sacking of tone needed an ambitious appointment. This isn't, whatever way you spin it. No comment on the end result, but being disappointed is 100% understandable, surely.

Not one bit.

You wanted LJ sacked but you're putting him ahead of someone who'll clearly manage at a higher level than the Fleetwood manager ever will.

I've just had a canny chat with my mate who's a hoops fan and he was canny positive about Beale. Said when he went in his 1st couple games were a struggle but then got them firing and played some exciting football. Thinks the whole wolves situation affect the results then picked up again and then as well all know got the move back to rangers. Basically said he's great coach and if he can't work with the talent what's at safc then he deserves to be sacked in the summer haha.

Its your opinion but Beale is better than LJ. LJ has totally lost it as a manager, if you think Beale is hated by rangers fans you should ask Hibs fans what they think of LJ

My mate is good mates with a few hibs players and they said everyone hated LJ at the club, so no chance id want him back over Beale

Things at Sunderland, as Mowbray discovered, are tightly controlled with a rigid administration, unlike Rangers ...

... any new head coach has to fit in and won't be allowed to be spontaneous and capricious.

Yes, let the man get on with it . There are a lot of good young players there and good staff to help.

As for the buzzword stuff, it's bloody awful, but if it's just in the pressers I'm not bothered. They mean nowt to me, as they mostly have to tread the same ground over and over, so I never watch them really.

But I can't imagine players enjoying it at half time when they are struggling, so as long as he keeps it in its place it shouldn't be a problem.

Let's just see. No one is a guaranteed winner anyway.

Maybe that works better for Beale mate just been able to concentrate on the training ground. All I've seen is negatives about his signings at rangers. As well all know speakman and Harvey sort transfers out so that takes any of that away from him.

Realistically who do we bring in who’s much more appealing than Beale and would have our fanbase overjoyed? It’s either young, untested and potentially brilliant or older, proven, safe hands. Have people not learnt their lesson with Farioli?

Im not buying that at all mate. I appreciate you trying to share some positive vibes but lets be honest, hes a downgrade on Mowbray. I wasnt totally against Mogga being sacked because i thought we had a plan. This appointment smells of desperation after realising too late the manager we wanted was not possible.

Echo this with playing numerous games with zero strikers despite bringing 4 in during the summer, it feels like our hierarchy are beginning to trip themselves up with this so called project that we have.
