It's sensible having the wages to turnover at those levels. We can't go back to how we used to operate. Hopefully we can increase our income to allow higher wages.
Oh I agree with it, maybe with some room to manouvre upwards a bit. Just really an observation on whether coaches look at us as a more difficult gig than other clubs who are less prudent. Devils advocate stuff really.
It's starting to get like the end of the transfer window now, people just need to be patient. I think they've earned our trust now
See that sounds to me like we have much better scope to improve the squad if we need to, not remotely negative. You are only allowed over the set percentage for 3 seasons max and they have shown with Everton they mean business now with breaches. I would imagine a financially solvent club is massively appealing.
We are in a good position to get promotion. I don’t think anyone with a brain cell would sack the person who got us in this position without having a preferred replacement agreed to come here. If that replacement is already at a club there would be negotiations with his employer, deals to be struck, legal agreements to be drawn-up, signed and ratified. Enter the legal profession. We all know that they dont hurry - they, out of necessity, have to check and recheck every line and clause, have those checked and ratified by the other sides legal team. It’s not like ordering something from Amazon! I’m confident we’ll have a new chief coach in position before Xmas. The club’s Xmas gift to.us all?
I am growing in belief we might get Still. Felt like cloud cuckoo until read about the issues he had with Reims on here. There’s no bigger job in England on the horizon. Nobody clearly at risk in the PL right now in the same markets as us for a gaffer.
Mentioned our wage bill a few times at the start of the season and got pelters.. I defo think it’s an issue. I get the sustainability crack but surely it shouldn’t be as low at is if we’re serious about gaining promotion quickly. Ipswich’ is much more than ours when they’ve just came up but our revenue is higher than theirs meaning their owners putting his hand in his pocket at the start of the season and agreeing to sign it off - something I wasn’t aware existed until a few weeks ago when Gary Neville was explaining how EFL clubs operate financially.
We don’t want to be throwing money about tho! Let Ipswich crack on we’ve got a model and it’s going very well so don’t understand ya wanting us to spunk loads of cash.
Never do chap. for me West Ham at this moment in his career is a little to far, no problem with him using us as a stepping stone once we are up there with the bigguns though
Aye maybe a reach to see a PL team going for him now, well not a PL team but a status one like West Ham. **** me there’ll be some interest in the West Ham job.
The problem with that though mate you are gambling on our long term success. Look at Stoke for example who were under a transfer embargo which was only lifted this season. I don't want to go down that route. The owner is putting money in but it's for stuff that will help us long term, like what's been done to the AOL and our data and recruitement systems.
Call me a fanny - but I'm getting a little twitchy. I rate dodds as a coach and think he's an integral part of our set up but I don't think he should be put in as permanent head coach. Like a few above has said, there's usually a leak or two out about now. The radio silence is a little bit weird. Really hope this turns out to be for the best.
Twitchy for what reason? Speakman hasn't made a bad coaching hire yet so nothing to worry about there. Dodds showed he has the tactical nouse to get the team playing well and win. Just let this play out and all will be fine, like it has been for the last 3 years. The correct appointment will be made whether it's today or whenever.
I think maybe there is room for a bit of wriggle on it. Maybe they have already done so with new contracts and fees for Bellingham to be fair. What I would say is that I think we could out our hand in our pockets for a top head coach and assistant. So far we have gone down the availabke route. I believe them fully when they talk about ambition. The most important cog in the wheel is the head coach in my opinion. They are the ones that can engineer promotion. I hope this time around that they will invest in the best people for the job, and I have no reason to believe they wont. Unai Emery it is
All 3 appointments have moved us on and proven to be good ones. Let us not forget the nonsense with Keane though - that was really naieve on somebodies part. I am sure they have learned the lesson from that and it looks from the outside at least they have. No daft media leaks or anything is a step in the right direction.
Wouldn't be surprised if we heard a name for a preferred candidate tonight or tomorrow. Also wouldn't be surprised if Speakman done an interview with Sky before the match tomorrow to give us an update.
