So a few thoughts :

  1. it might sound to some like a bad idea right now…. But if we win the next two it might not
  2. I think there are two things that might hold him back from the top job. Firstly - does he have the tactical nous and adaptability? Well - so far so good on that. I liked what I saw today.
  3. The second thing and I think the reason he definitely won’t get it, is that he’s too valuable to the club in his current role. He’s there as a constant even when the head coach moves on. Make him the head coach and there’s no going back, we lose him as soon as he’s sacked. And I think Speakman likes having him in there.
Everything I know of Dodds points to him being an absolutely exceptional development coach. Working with players on the training pitch to improve them.

For a head coach I think we need someone who has the ability to manage and motivate players and, most importantly has an innovative tactical approach and ability to implement it. Dodds fits into part of that coach’s team.

It may be a case that Dodds has all that in his locker already and I’m just not aware of it. The club will be though if he does and if they think he’s the right man for it then they’d have my absolute faith that they’ve got it right.

I guess the biggest risk is that if he does well, does want the job and doesn’t get it then he becomes disenfranchised and ends up leaving to pursue a more senior role elsewhere. Then we lose a great coach and part of the team. I guess that largely depends on how the club are communicating with him and managing his expectations at the minute.

for every brian clough there is a guy who is quite happy to do his job without being stuck on the pedestal...dodds did a good job today by basically making a couple of tweaks most of us wanted to see and getting the lads to somehow 'wake up' but maybe he is happy enough to leave the main flak to someone else...for now.

Played really well 2nd half. They've got one of the best defences in the league and we created a load of clear cut chances. Shows what we're capable of and that we should be challenging in the top 6.
Just hope they don't do what Quinn did with Sabriga and give it to Dodds coz of a few results. Can't see it though as KS will want Dodds in a job as a coach long term.

Looking forward to seeing who the new Head Coach will be. The longer it goes on I can't see it being Will Still, he's in a place we're if it was him, we would've went and got him instead of interviewing loads of people.

I've got a feeling there'll be a name randomly appear who will get the job. I said a few days ago about KS admiring the red bull set up and with Struber and Jaissle linkes before. Have a feeling it'll be someone random that comes from that background.

Either way we've got a good set up and I trust them to do the right thing.

Hellberg and Sable I guess are two.

Not sure about the UK one but Heckingbottom would be a stinking appointment imo.
I'd be livid. Would be such a mood hoover appointment him. Doesn't match up at all. His style of play is nothing like the one we're trying to implement.
