He'd be brilliant for us but he'll get a Prem job if Forest sack him. Plus, I think the club already had their candidates in mind when they sacked TM, there will have been a lot of due diligence going on behind the scenes for weeks / months now. I can't them see them chucking that all in the bin and jumping on Cooper at the drop of a hat because he suddenly becomes available
I think it depends on what wages they’re after. Some managers might fancy themselves to get us up from where we are then they’re premier league managers again.

Only 20 jobs in the prem. If you're a coach who aspires to be a prem manager, a big club who are top 10 in the championship, with room to grow, generate revenue, should be incredibly appealing. If we can't afford some of our targets, says more about them than us

I mean he helped keep us up so technically…. <laugh>
Lots of managers have had bad spells mind. Mowbray has and also did well, Neil has and was class that league one season. Depends on the fit and conditions. I don’t think for a minute it would be Solskjaer but we’d get a champions league experienced manager who got a side at a club in a downturn close to a premier league title , largely by signing youngsters. But people wouldn’t be happy which shows why the club’s thorough analytical approach is better.

I agree mate, but if we are to believe Heckinbottom is in frame, why not the fat not talented Cooper?

He was actually expected to go last week, it could absolutely match the timing. He essentially got a 2 game extension and lost the first one 5 zip.

Be very naive if the club aren’t watching. As he is used to, proven and comfortable managing in our kind of setup.

Forest owner is mental, demanding but largely successful.

Blows my mind that the bloke whose pen won the World Cup is dossing about at Forest.

"The fat not talented Cooper" bit harsh that, mate <laugh>. I'm guessing you meant far more talented and I agree, he'd be a real coup for the club imo

I like Cooper, but waiting around to see if he gets sacked would be insane. If he was sacked this weekend and we still haven't appointed anyone, he's obviously worth a call.

I'm not sure it is always wise for a manager to jump straight into a job after losing the last one. I sometimes think they need a period of self evaluation, to see what parts of their process failed.

I can’t see Aaron Biggs coming here unless it’s to take up a head coach role.

Any reasoning behind that or is it just an opinion? That's not a dig by the way, I don't know enough about the man to know anything, but he doesn't look like a potential head coach on his CV in my opinion.

Wolfsburg are an ok German team but anything above mid table is always them punching above their weight. A more senior role here might be seen as good experience for him.

I know his title is Assistant manager, but I think that's a little lost in translation. He'll be one of about 3 or 4 "assistants".

He is more an analyst than coach which indicates he wouldn’t be best suited to a lead role.

looks a bit of a sparse crowd so far...wonder if a few are voting with their feet?

none of the strikers to start, think dodds is carrying on mowbrays message...really need to get this appointment right.

Absolutely just my opinion mate. I just feel his career trajectory doesn’t see him take a similar role (I’ll admit I hadn’t considered the ‘assistant manager’ lost in translation point) in a lesser league under another relatively untried head coach having been an assistant manager in Bundesliga and Ligue 1 already.

So a few thoughts :

  1. it might sound to some like a bad idea right now…. But if we win the next two it might not
  2. I think there are two things that might hold him back from the top job. Firstly - does he have the tactical nous and adaptability? Well - so far so good on that. I liked what I saw today.
  3. The second thing and I think the reason he definitely won’t get it, is that he’s too valuable to the club in his current role. He’s there as a constant even when the head coach moves on. Make him the head coach and there’s no going back, we lose him as soon as he’s sacked. And I think Speakman likes having him in there.

As I said in another thread tho - him winning games is going to create space and time for the board to find the right person for the other role. Lose today and social media would have been full of “taking too long” tonight. This win today has bought them probably 3-4 extra days. And a win on Tuesday buys them another week etc
