Whoever comes in has to be totally committed to working within the set up and squad the club has spent all this time and effort building. If you want to do what people say Neil and Mowbray have done ...

... just walk on by.

Despite the criticism of 'the model' we've become admired throughout the country, played some incredible football and almost had back to back promotions.

The club has been totally transformed and a handful of results with a bit of a huff from Mowbray shouldn't change that imo. We've tried flexibility, big investment and older experienced players so many times before and it's been a much bigger shambles than the one some people are claiming this is.

In my opinion the club isn't going to suddenly abandon what they've built and why should they ...

... the new manager should match the ideals and aims of the club.

If not, go and manage someone else.

That's probably why IMO they'll go for a European head coach. Someone who will be used to being told "that's your squad, make a team out of it"

Agree completely. Abandoning principals and going scattergun is what spiralled us from solid premier league to a long stay in league 1 and financially crippled.

it’s like people are only mentioning the young players for the future being brought in and not the likes of Clark/Ballard/Roberts being brought in under the model. Any upcoming coach should be excited with this squad, jobe at 18 has incredible talent. Ba, adil, Hume all under 21 and look exciting. Clarke/Ballard get in any team in this league. This was all built in what around 2 years? Club has a hell of a lot of credit in the bank for me currently

It's the only sensible way imo.

Changing the squad and strategy, for the likes of Neil who's clearly capable of baling out at the drop of a hat, is insanity

It's pointless chasing a dream of 'investing and competing in the PL' ...

... it's just never going to happen.

Agreed. We've finally reached the point where the Head Coach simply lifts out, without having to completely revamp the coaching side of things. No more BSA and is 16 assistants/analysts/pro-zone nonces

good post that’s exactly the way I see it going, they’ve gotten a lot right in a short space of time and I believe they’ll get this right too.

I know people mean well but they talk about 'investment and flex' as if they come with a guarantee ...

... the last time it came with Stewart fckin Donald <doh>

**** the investment bollocks, they’ve spent loads on the back room staff and improving the infrastructure as far as I’m aware, also spent decent money on players and contracts tying our best players down.

wont hear me crying for a multi million pound striker that could end up crocked after a couple of games like a certain Scottish fella that’s just left us.

Quite right.

Just because we're not advertising our spending, doesn't mean there is nome.
