No point making excuses using the ref. It was all self inflicted and ultimately we got what we deserved. Fantastic credit to the 9 players and the fans. We move on. We have enough to get a result against wolves even with the missing players.
He lost control of the game - or rather never had control of it. It was Clattenberg all over again. He let Chelsea get away with a few dodgy early fouls when we were on top. The odd free kick but no cards. The temperature rose, Udogies challenge was rash and Romero - for whom I have little sympathy - lost his cool. Oliver wasn't helped by VAR, but he's a ref who seems to thrive in the limelight, which is seldom good for the game. But I am very bitter
Sorry but we ain't got any reason to complain about the ref. He could easily have sent Udogie off very early on and he let stuff go from all players on both teams. IMHO he did not lose control of the match...Udogie and Romero lost their heads.
Sounds like Maddison was withdrawn more as a precaution. Good news. Ange also makes some excellent points about VAR which every manager should be forced to listen to, chief of all Virgil Tracy down the road.
They were run of the mill fouls and none deserved cards IMHO. The game was in our control until Udogie and Romero lost their heads imho
The worst thing about this game is Van de Vens injury. We were going to lose sometime and we have 8 games in December! The reaction on Saturday will tell us a lot about this team and how far we have come
The fact that VAR was frequently called into use underlines how little control he had of the match - and that's before the calls he bottled having to make
I’m with you mate. I don’t think the referee was the reason we lost at all. Both sending offs we can have no complaints and that was ultimately the reason we lost
Love that this man is our manager love that attitude no blame accept the referees decision is final well done Ange
<BBC> Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to BBC Sport: ... On VAR decisions and time taken to make them: "I don't like it, it is the way the game is going. Some of it is self inflicted because if we come out every week complaining about decision that is what will happen, every decision gets forensically checked and we will be sitting around for a long time in every game trying to figure out what is going on. "I don't like it but I am probably in the wilderness with that because I keep getting told that's where we want to go. I am too old school, I'll respect the referee's decision right or wrong. But it is the way the game is going. </BBC> Bitch-slapping the false messiah + grinch + lego captain black in one go.
Ange’s interview was amazing. Love that he didn’t make out we were victims. Accept the decisions and move on. Why complain, it’s done now. All teams will have some games when they think they are hard done by. We are the ones who have to take it on the chin tonight
Surely in Saturday it will be Dier and Davies (if fit) at CB with Royal at LB. Providing Maddison is fit then the rest pick themselves?
