Let's wait and see what comes first: Mowbray's departure over 'philosophical differences' or Lord Speakman signing an English veteran.

I think speakman has said that the priority is always to sign quality player regardless of age.

I dont really force on the age when it comes to 'experience', its more about what level have they played at and do they have plenty of games under their belt

Interesting mate, I think a lot of us assume the midde east is this authoritarian state and all countries are like Saudi Arabia. I assume Abu Dhabi and Dubai have areas for expats (who are needed to work out there) where it is a bit more relaxed.

I'll get wrang for derailing the transfer thread when it had just got back on track!

The UAE is a very cosmopolitan country which is safe, very clean and incredibly advanced. Yes it is an Islamic run country and as long as you respect the rules, you have no problems...The regime here is very relaxed. There are no "areas" as such for expats, its very much mixed communities. I don't know Saudi very well, but my understanding from friends who have moved there, its a little more strict, but very much changing to a more relaxed way of living. I have lived and worked in the UK, USA, Germany and here in the UAE. This country is far and away the best place I have ever lived in...no contest.

Until the UK, EU and USA etc governments decide to stop trading with UAE, Qatar, Saudi etc, because of their so called questionable morals then I have no problem in the slightest of living and working here. I've said a lot of times, its not for everyone. But for those who have the opportunity, the balls and ambition to better themselves, living abroad is not that bad.. For those who don't, no problem.

Looks like there’s been an update from Croatia according to Andy. Likely to agree a fee.

Frigan a keeper and a centre mid and I think that’s us pretty well stocked isn’t it? Even should a couple more go? If I’m greedy I’d like another winger too, rak saki mentioned would been a good addition

Didn’t a princess run away and got forced back against her own will not that long ago?

Probably decent lowey out there but I’d rather **** in my hands and clap than live in an Islamic state that still practices shariah law at times.

can we keep this thread to transfers and save the greed discussions for a different thread?

quite hoping one of these strikers comes good but i am still convinced that we could still need a bit more experience in the squad.

I like the look of Rak-Sakyi as well but the only link I saw was literally an opinion piece from a random Ghanaian site saying we SHOULD sign him... and some have pounced on that as an actual link.

I think the rest of our business will be:
    • Striker who can also play wide
    • Back up keeper
    • Midfielder

Any outgoing from here will likely need replacing as well. The only player in the squad who I think might go and not need replacing is Embleton or Pritchard - as both play in a role that arguably we are well stocked in. (not saying I want either to leave - just that if they did they wouldn't need replacing from a numbers perspective).

    @kaljodrv
    Frigan to @SunderlandAFC ?

After the first offer was declined apparently the second, more lucrative, offer for €5,2M was accepted by @NKRijeka
