Hmm dont agree, blood money shouldnt go to charity....so people who bomb women & children, funded 911....now indirectly fund good causes....thats the whole sportswaahing in a nutshell

different issue...but some ignored what Jimmy Savile was doing fir years because he raised a lot for charity....good causes should not have links to horrific people

I agree with this 100%, if I was offered four times my salary to go and do my job in Saudi of course I would, but honestly nobody would give a flying ****. Now if I was a high profile role model, perhaps I would think of the implications, cos an awful lot of money can’t make up for becoming a pariah.

Would be a real shame for Henderson to forget his moral compass and take the cash. Would have thought he was made of better stock than that.

Really not sure about the vitriol about someone making as much money as they can. He is a footballer who has a career that will last about 15/20 years tops. Good luck to him. I made the choice to move to the Middle East over 10 years ago and I quadrupled my salary and am paying zero tax. I'm not here because of the sun...i'm here to secure my retirement. I was aware that I would miss my family and loads of family occasions, but thats a choice I made....I'm pretty sure Jordan is doing the same. Most expats know its not for everyone, but for those who make the move seem to be ok with the choices they make.

Has Hendo said anything about his future, or is this just a load of useless speculation?

He is already a multi multi millionaire. Situation is not comparable to the normal person moving over there.

Yes I know several people who have worked in the middle East, they were well paid! Can’t really blame them.

Not sure if Henderson should be considered any different? Other than he is, I would have thought, quite wealthy already. Similar to golfers who went to LIV.

I know many " Millionaires" who have moved to Dubai/ Saudi to make more. Why not? I really don't get this preoccupation with "he already has money"...clearly in his mind, he can make more and secure his family for many years. I play golf with a guy ( American) whose wealth totally dwarfs that of Jordan and he came to Abu Dhabi to enhance his earning capacity. As I said ...good luck to him. Most people would go for it if they had the chance and the balls to actually do it.

Disagree. He is in the public eye. England captain. Rainbow laces embassador, against all forms of discrimination.

I doubt your pal fits into that category?

You can not be for all that, for years then just forgo moral compass for more zeros. That's just disgraceful behaviour and the definition of a sell out hypercritical douche.

All about opinion.... I disagree with yours. He is coming towards the end of his career...good luck to him...I imagine he could care less about what people think about his choices

I think that there are a lot of ordinary folk who have gone and worked in Saudi and the Middle East and earned for them what is life changing money. I also think that there is some degree of hypocrisy from all of us about the idea of footballers going there for the money when the money they are using is partly from the people who are complaining about it (who do people think that the Saudi's sell there oil to) I know this might open a can of worms and admit that the thought of footballers going there helps them to wash their image (which doesn't sit well with me) but maybe it may start to make the country realize that once the oil dries up so will the money, so they need to change hence the sports washing and the attempts to entice holiday makers to the country. Like I say its a huge debate and one that has far reaching ramifications beyond sport so to pillory players for taking the money definitely holds merit but also seem a little hypocritical at the same time. As a country are they actively looking to improve their human rights issues or are they just pulling a big wet blanket over the top and hoping people will not look underneath. Sadly I think it is probably the latter and more atrocities will happen before any real and meaningful change happens, and the truth is the change that needs to happen will only come about when the billions start to dry up.

Good for you Rooch....As I have said, an expats life is not for everyone. I see many people coming out here and lasting a few months..other stay the longer like me and my friends out here. I have maximised my earning potential be coming out here...my only regret is not knowing about this place earlier
