I'm still not buying it to be fair.

The way we recruit now I'd be very surprised if Stuart Harvey thought we'd need to trial out a player before signing. The recruitment department he's Head of are so thorough in their approach to scouting, and utilising data that I think they'd be able to make their mind up really quickly.

Mowbray and the coaches will obviously be taking training but don't have final say on transfers.

Therefore, if he is on trial who makes the decision? The recruitment department who aren't on the training pitch, or the head coach and coaching staff on the training pitch who dont have the say on recruitment. See what I mean?

I don't think it's a goer personally.
One scenario I can think of is a recommendation from Alese or Ekwah. May not have been at best when scouts visited or we just didn’t have enough data for Harvey. So nothing lost bar travel expenses and a few free lunches at the AOL.

I take your point. Our recruitment process does seem thorough but perhaps every now and then someone becomes available unexpectedly and we say “ hadn’t thought of him, let’s take a look we’ve got nothing to lose” Let TM take a look and report back.

Lot of people with red and white specs on tbh. I've heard talk of "walk the league" because we've signed a youngster from Brum and a bunch of kids with literally zero experience at anything remotely close to Championship standard <yikes>.

Don't get me wrong, I think we'll be in and around the top 6, and if things really click we could *maybe* push for automatics. But there are going to be a lot of disappointed folk a couple months into the season, imo.

Nobody will walk the league this year looking at the teams now in the Championship. It’s going to come down to consistency, squad depth and being lucky with regards to injuries.

I’d be over the moon with playoffs

It's going to be a ****ing great competition this year...and we're going to be right in the mix. Can't wait, our beloved game at its' exciting best!

I dont think we walk the league but with the extra experience of last year we have a young fairly experienced squad with height strength and pace throw in a few decent looking defenders and the injured players coming back I think there is cause for optimism. Improving our home record is key and the fact that there are probably 10 or so teams who think that automatics are possible and will be all out going foe it means that a lot of teams will come to SOL to win and not sit deep and try and frustrate which I think will give us a bit more of an edge at home. Its all conjecture but does give cause for a bit of optimism.

It’s rare you get called up for England if you’re ****e. Coady isn’t only a good centre back but he’s a massive personality and that will be huge for Leicester, alongside Evans who’s basically the same. What people need to remember is that we thought Bathh was incredible last season - in the championship. Evans has been doing it in the PL for the last decade, regardless of his age he’s still top drawer as is Coady.
Is that Coady who couldn't get a game for Everton towards the end of last season?

Naa. The lad was overrated from day one and started to lose minutes even under Pocc, made very little impression on games.

He is glacially slow and is like Scott Parker every pass is under 10 yards and sideways. I would not be excited at all if we signed him.

He tanked in a weak Serie A. Missed first bunch of games but Sampdoria finished rock bottom and the fans were rioting.

Spurs have absolutely gang banged Leicester getting 25% of the Maddison fee back for him. Hamer is a game changing ball player. I’d have Hamer over Winks before you can say Winks.

Quote me when I say he will get overran in this league.

Sampdoria wanted to sign him but their financial issues prevailed. Obviously an injury at the start set him back but he was fairly decent in an awful team. Full pre-season with Leicester will do him good.

What do you class as overrated though? I don’t think anyone’s really claimed he’s a world beater but you don’t play regular football for a team who finish in the top 4 of the prem, play champions league football/CL final and get an England call up all before 23 if you’re ****e. He was Jack Clarkes age when he’d achieved that.

Hamer is quality but he’s only ever played in the championship. Holding your own against Man City/Dortmund in the CL is different to looking top drawer against Rotherham or Cardiff

No idea, think he played most of their games didn’t he? I know he didn’t miss a single PL game in the 4 years beforehand for Wolves though.

Danny Bathh couldn’t get a game for Stoke when we signed him. And has never had an international call up. Yet we all thought he was a world beater last season.

Coady was dropped towards the end of the season because his performances were so poor.

The Spurs fans have been desperate to get rid of Winks for years, they know how ****e he is. His game is all about passing the ball sideways no more than 10 yards. He wouldn't get a game in our midfield.

I thought he was overrated when came through at Spurs. Was a lot of talk around him and that’s essentially how he got the England call.

He was featured on Soccer AM and such and looked like one of those players just looked like the press fancied and were bigging up, but he’d never done anything on the park to show it for me.

Don’t get me wrong he isn’t a shocking player, I just don’t see him having massive influence on this league; and I wouldn’t say he’d be a player I’d be excited if we signed.

He doesn’t make Leicester way stronger (they were already the strongest for me)

Far too much delusion from over the road ending up on here mind.

Everyone is ****ing themselves off about Ekwah, who’s played about 10 championship games yet wouldn’t apparently have someone who’s 5 years younger than Evans whilst achieving more than most of our players ever will :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I think it's always important to look at the overall picture. Danny Batth found himself to be a senior figure in the dressing room....he warmed to it and his leadership skills and experience came to the fore...and as a consequence, his form on the pitch. Patrick Roberts feels like he belongs,he's appreciated and his form on the pitch takes the appropriate upgrade. That's what I think happened to Ekwah at the end of last season. It's important for us all to remember that these players will play better when they're made to feel happy, something TM and his team seem to be very good at.

While you're sat here ****ing off over who other teams are signing, whilst putting down our own players <doh>

Absolutely nothing linking us to this lad but 1. Great name 2. Looks a hell of a talent, Amad replacement?

I wouldnt say its delusion, winks just isnt as good as some are making out on here.

My mate describes him as a tom cleverly like player and i think thats a great comparison. Winks is an ok player but hes not worth 10 million imo. He doesnt do anything particularly brilliant, hes good at retaining possession but he never really progresses the ball through the lines.

He will do ok there but he wont be the stand out CM in the league that some are saying.

As for coady, i like coady if a team is playing a back 3. He is poor in a back 4, especially if his team want to push up higher. Good pro tho so can see why they are signing him as they need more leaders in their squad

I’m not putting anyone down I’m just realistic. If we’re 10 points clear by Christmas I’ll come back with my tail between my legs :emoticon-0102-bigsm

We have a brilliant squad and some serious potential, we’ve also made decent signings that I’m happy about.
