105 million for Rice !! Football has gone mad, he’s a steady top end no frills premier league player, another Gareth Barry I’ve seen him described as which sums him up perfectly. Sour face Moyes will waste that money in no time.

I think in these transfers, west ham knew rice wanted to leave months ago. They probably told him he could talk to arsenal, agree terms etc, but would only sanction the move once transfer fee was agreed.

Tapping up,is when, imo, a club approach a player who's under contract and his club doesn't know he wants to leave, and poach them (player then forces a move)
Aye, and that goes on as well mate. I just go back to timea when George Graham lost his job at Arsenal. Allegations around El Tel and Cloughie from Sugar. Mike Newall made a right fuss about managers taking money to sign players. Allardyce and England was an awful thing.

My Dad tells me about when Sunderland were the bank of england club. Better people than me on here can comment.

I reckon since time began players have agreed a wage before clubs agreed a fee. At least since Mr Hill did his best anyway.

Arsenal + Rice
City - Gundoghan

Arsenal stronger, City weaker. I reckon Havertz will fit Arsenal too, but a chance. Hope a closer title challenge next year.

Man City have only signed Kovacic as of yet which is great business for £30m. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more come in. Arsenal had to sign players because their barebones squad wouldn’t be able to cope with champions league football plus the premier league.

He's miles better than Gareth Barry could ever hope to be. With a little more development on his attacking play, he's as close to Vieira as Arsenal could ever find. He's one of the best in the world at his role.

That’s a bold statement mind, just my humble opinion but I think he’s a run of the mill classic English central midfielder, he’s decent but nowt special

Ignoring the fees, Winks and Coady are better than you could hope to sign at this level.

They're red hot favourites to win the league in my opinion.
Is Winks actually any good?
Coady looks like when you buy Danny Batth on ebay

Shocked if they’re not up there like. I fancy Southampton for the league but it’s unbelievably competitive.

The pair of them will be competitive. The difference for me is that Leicester will spend to go straight back up. Southampton will build sensibly - so it all depends on who they lose.

We have to be aiming to be in the mix but top 6 again would be a huge achievement for us.
