A close family member of mine who knows very little about football told me about a footballer looking at buying a house in the area, so I asked if they had a name and they replied with Sonny something or other.
Seems like we’re overreacting a bit here when it could very well be, as others have mentioned, that he’d be coming in as cover for what we already have.
I think the expectations of some fans are a bit misguided and unrealistic. Bradley's experience would be invaluable, I don't think he would be auto first choice but he could push Sean Maka further along with his development.
The leadership/experience argument is the one that makes sense. If they feel that 2 lefties can play together at CB then it's fine by me. Guess we can judge if we're stronger or not at the end of the window.
The leadership arguement is great until you realise he has maybe 5 more championship appearances then Greaves at 31
He's also missed more than half of the last two seasons through injury. I thought Rosenior wanted robust players? It's a good signing for someone like Wednesday. It's a poor signing for us.
I don't see what role he'd do though. He's a 30-something sicknote who is quite average in terms of footballing ability. Only thing I've heard say in defence of this potential signing is a vague reference to 'experience' and 'leadership' but I don't believe our current squad is particularly lacking in that area. Greaves and Jones already have two full Championship seasons each. We have experienced leaders like Seri, Coyle and Christie as well. We signed Figueiredo for experience and yet Rosenior prefers Jones, Macca and Greaves in central defence over him and our defence has been better for it.
Can't say I don't find it an underwhelming signing in isolation - if it is Bradley. I guess the plan will reveal itself by the end of the window.
I don't think Sonny Bradley would be bad assuming he is for cover. Experience around the place and big lad to throw on if circumstances deem it. Wayne Brown, abdoulaye faye....was any of you blown away by them signings. I seem to remember them contributing to our success, the latter to lesser extent. It's a squad game.
