I had my booster a few weeks back and the flu jab a week or two later later, so far no adverse reaction, hope everyone not so lucky, is on the mend, we live in worrying times.
Hi mate, l was told it was a virus but like my mate not prescribed anything for it. Took time to shift as your parents are finding. Hope they feel better very soon
I did you know. I wasn't booked for it but when my wife got hers I was able to get mine as her carer. Must have been a couple of weeks though between the jab and starting to feel crap.
"Sunderland’s first-team players made a special Christmas visit to the Children’s Emergency ward at the Sunderland Royal Hospital to surprise them with festive gifts." https://safc.com/news/team-news/2022/december/sunderland-players-visit-hospital?gamp=true
Tees I dont know you from Adam but there is always a new door to open, trick is not to keep going through the doors you have closed. Moving on will be hard but it can and will be exciting if you let it, you will get there and what better time than Christmas / New Year to move on. Out with the old and in with the New ! My 1st serious relationship ended very badly and I honestly didnt think I would be able to move on, within 2 months I realised it was the best thing that could ever have happened to me, it can happen to you if you embrace it. All the very best and the happiest of New Years to you.
All good advice mate, sound in my opinion. I'd only add that I find it's best not to think of 'moving on' as an *elastoplast situation ... ... moving on doesn't mean putting the past out of your mind, it's impossible. You can get on with your life while regretting mistakes, missing someone or thinking why it went wrong. Life is a complicated thing and we have to often put on a brave face, but we're entitled to kick the cat or shout at the telly if we're pissed off, even if it's with ourselves. And, of course, it's always easier to see things clearly from the outside looking in. *For anyone not ancient Google 'ripping off the bandaid metaphor'.
Yes, of course, plus put up a Christmas Tree and have whatever celebrations you like. I would rather see you, an atheist, celebrate a time of family love and general bonhomie than see some acerbic bigot joyously celebrating their own salvation. So to you, your family, people of other faiths and of none, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Nice post mate. I remember seeing a clip from a WW2 field doctor who said most wounded or dying Atheists almost always prayed to God ... ... almost never to the laws of science or the natural flow of the universe. Now, forgive me for saying, that's like never contributing to a medical service then expecting a heart transplant when you're on your death bed
Thanks mate. That’s exactly how it is. I see Christmas as a time to spend with family. Since my Grandma died in ‘89 ky belief has vanished as my Garda’s did. Doesn’t stop me loving this time of year. Nothing religious about it. My wife’s family are Jehovah’s witnesses ffs!!! No Christmas, birthdays or anything. Sunday will just be “another day” for them.
That's all it takes mate and why not. If it nudges you to be a bit kinder, a bit more charitable and friendly that's massive especially if you multiply that by thousands of others. I like to think is a more spiritual time than other Bank Holidays even for people who aren't the least but religious ... ... we may not all feel spiritual but we all have a spirit and can believe in the collective decency of mankind
I’ve often wondered if they would pray to him if they hadn’t been force fed him from birth and never heard of him?
That's me finished work. 12 days off. First time in two decades I've not been working or on call at some point over the Christmas period. Weird feeling. Strange year.
Not at all mate. All the best under the circumstances and RIP to your awld fella . It's a happy time for some and a shìtty time for others.
I am just coming out of a week's worth of illness. Just in time too. Just need the kids to stay clear of it all now. Not long so the excitement is building for them now. Was at Rainton Meadows yday for Gringe and Santa and Fare. Small fortunes was spent. Was canny.
Mrs Exile had to give in and see the doctor yesterday for her cough. Just couldn't shift it. Steroids, antibiotics, inhaler, the lot. Almost instant improvement.
Mate it's brutal. Worryingly, my 7 year old is being soppy today and complaining of a sore throat again. Hopefully it's just minor and doesn't go back to last week!
It's nearly Christmas marra. Couple of brandy gargles (and swallow) his throught will feel fine and he'll sleep like a baby
Instead of me working night shifts over Xmas, the wife decided she wanted sunshine rather than freezing cold, so this is the view we will have on Xmas morning. Pub already found for the match on Boxing Day. Hope you all have a good day wherever you are
