for me it’s always been money. That’s my biggest demon. I very rarely drink and do t gamble(used to do matched betting but cleaned out the money to pay debts).

I’ve been trying to start my own business which didn’t go as well as expected. It’s cricket related so will probably end up being seasonal so I need to find something that i can do during the winter months.

I mentioned gambling as I know a few friends who did online spread betting and very quickly got into serious trouble.

As a ps the gambling industry (who without exception, make large profits) targets football fans. With harmless, what will be the score and who will score etc, not a bad bit of fun. But what the industry wants us you to get a taste and to get further involved. The oft quoted slippery slope. We are all getting bombarded with scam emails, in many ways gambling advertising should be viewed in the same light.

You mentioned cricket in the summer... well ice cream in the summer and umbrellas in the winter.

This is my first post on here for quite some time. Had a pretty **** time over the last 4 months it so. Big money worries due to job struggles and my own business not performing as well as expected. My season card got cancelled due to the fact I couldnt pay the monthly instalments so footy and messageboards in general have taken something if a back seat.
Jobs wise things are looking a lot better and hoping for something more permanent in the new year.
Been finding it a massive struggle to
get excited about footy in any shape or form lately. Hoping the new year brings some more interest.
Have a business over here mate and the last couple of years has been at best horrendous with the pandemic sh*t. Like walking through a minefield with your eyes closed. Don't beat yourself up too much because we are all in the same boat......we are just trying to make it work. If you want advice business wise on things you shouldn't do work wise just pm me. Seen it done it type of thing on doing cock ups. Still sometimes you got to live to fight another day right? Just want to wish you a great Christmas and hope come the New Year you have left all your troubles behind....best....LA

Well after picking up the g'kids from school, we went to get 'the tree'. 9 year old played it cool, but let his his sister 6 pick it, but helped me to strap in on the roof, being grown-up but grining!

It is outside atm, stuff needs to be brought out of loft etc.

A new thing is they want a little one in their bedrooms, I might do a B and Q raid for them.

Tesco has little real trees, in a pot, with lights on for about £6.

Gone balls deep this year. 2 trees up (1 real, 1 fake). The missus made a garland for the front door and I bought a snowflake projector.
Looks like it's just my folks over this year (in-laws going to see the brother-in-law and his family). Kids being that bit older are excited without being mental. Hoping next Xmas will be spent in Canada

I finish my job on 22nd, so anticipating and looking forward to a couple of months off and a bit of R&R

Xmas Day itself will be the usual Turkey+trimmings followed by my now traditional Turkey Methi on Boxing Day

Royal Mail are trying to destroy mine. Spent a significant amount on jewellery for my wife. It’s been delivered according to them. They’ve even put a picture of the item, with my name and address and m, at an open front door. Not MY front door, but someone now has a few hundred quids worth of jewellery. Engraved with mature which is meaningful to me and my wife. And they apparently don’t get paid enough to do their job this badly!!

Okay, I appreciate your anger about Royal Mail. Simon our postie leaves it with neighbours if we are not in.

But c'mon tell all, nobody will know... what have you done that you have to buy expensive (guilt) jewellery?? I thought what happens on the road stays on the road?

Cheers mate, but had already went to B and Q... wire is already bust on the lights for one of them.

One Christmas we were thrilled to have a litter of gorgeous kittens arrive. They were all claimed except the little black one who we called Monty. He was hilarious and loved climbing up inside the Christmas tree, reaching the top and meowing to be grabbed when he was stuck. As Christmas day approached we became aware of a stench developing, in the house, that we just couldn't trace.

We eventually realised Monty had been using the earth, in the Christmas tree base, as a toilet and burying the evidence <doh>

<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh> I do these things all the time mate. I’m punching way above my weight class so need to make sure she’s ruined!!

And I’ve been home all day. He’s not been to my house!! It’s gone to a different address

Christmas will be a bit different this year - we arrived in New Zealand on Dec 1st and we're here till Feb 10th, so we'll be enjoying a typical Kiwi Christmas, whatever that might entail! Our joy will be complete if the useless f****rs at Singapore airlines manage to find our luggage - I'm not hopeful.

Both daughters bringing their boyfriends to stay this year, so that's going to be interesting. Especially when my mum arrives and her foot ends up in her mouth, as per...

As long as the boyfriends aren't offended by being insulted, ignored or interrogated you should get away with it ...

.... I lost a fair few girlfriends after they'd met me Mam.

"Nice to see he's gone for someone plain this time, he might hang on to you." <doh>

The real joys of a family Christmas Sid, we went through it with our future son in laws many moons ago.
We have always done a ' traditional ' Xmas and you assume everybody does the same and their reactions were quite interesting, makes you wonder how they were brought up<laugh>
They've managed to settle in now, both turned out to be canny lads, but you just never know which way things will go as I assume others on here have experienced the same.
