He's very similar to Koren in the way that for parts of the game it'll pass him by, but when he gets on the ball you know there's quality. When we actually do end up with a goalscoring chance, he's more often than not involved in it. I wouldn't have him out of the team unless he's absolutely **** for a long period.

Slater has been alright, he's had a few games where he's done really well but other than that he's been pretty average. Doc will take his place and deservedly so.

I'd have Doc and Tufan as the two central midfielders and then Pelkas (if fit) in front of them. Sinik on the left, Williams on the right. Oscar through the middle.

Williams and Sinik have the pace we need, both are decent crossers of the ball so for me that works. It means Pelkas can feed off the midfield or join in with his link up play, which he's shown to have a very good eye for. Some haven't been impressed by Williams, I was and there's a player in there I think we can use. Only 25 too so lots of room to improve.

Longman needs to be dropped, would be nice to see Simons come in as he looked very good in the U21s game but only from the bench, otherwise we could end up with another Harvey Vale style debut. People are knocking Cannon, but he is a grafter and he will get stuck in, perhaps that's what we need. He'll want to impress and that might up his game.

Or, give Olly Green or Harry Wood a go. There's a few of the U21s that might be ready to step up, a few are already training with the first team.

On the Andy Dawson subject. Love him to death and all that, but no way should Acun be considering appointing him permanently. There's too much at stake and he simply doesn't have the experience yet, let alone any kind of track record. Putting Scunthorpe to one side he needs now to learn from a very experienced coach/manager who has the experience and track record in order to build his own skill set. Does he have all his badges?

He doesn't need to be Pirlo. He just needs to break up play and not be ****.

Back four of Coyle, Jones, Greaves and Fleming, two defensive midfielders sat in front in the shape of Elder and Christie- both big lads, good engines, not slow and can tackle, Seri or Tufan sat in the middle of the park flanked by Sinik on the left and Pelkas on the right with Estupinan up top.

At some point every manager has to be given a chance.

Not sure in our precarious position it's the right time. Doesn't need to be championship experience, but probably more experience than a couple of caretaker stints IMO.

This could quickly turn into a relegation scrap.

Based off the fact that performances/xG eventually catch up to you (Boro+WBA), I would suggest we are already into a relegation scrap.

That is true to some extent but generally being in the top 4 of the xG column after 46 games you wouldn’t be in the bottom 3 like West Brom and Boro are. Game to game it’s useless really but it generally balances out over a season.

Could be an indicator the keeper had a good game. We are top of the list for xGs against if that is any consolation.
