Boro & West Brom also on the look out for a decent manager will not be helping our cause. Wilder would be my choice but not sure he would want to work alongside such a hands on owner.
Quite, whereas Hughton has worked under Ashley so Acun and Tan's structure shouldn't be so much of an issue. I accept he may be too defensive minded though.
I can't say I've got anything against Hughton. I've liked in the past what I've seen of him- He's always seemed to get a tune out of most clubs he's been in charge of but TBH, it's a double-edged sword isn't it. Even after the play-off final, Forest players were asked about the change in manager, many said Hughton was a big meany and Cooper basically "spared the rod to save the child". Well, these ****ers have had it easy with Shota. I think it's time for them to get the rod! https://media.giphy.com/media/nTPv8m6ePiLss/giphy.gif
Reading up on Wikipedia, (I know....) it's not too dissimilar to the situation here: "Ahead of the new season, Hughton was faced with the task of rebuilding his Forest side into a team capable of challenging for promotion. Hughton was faced with seven players out of contract, five loan players returning to their parent clubs and four more players told that they were free to leave, meaning a substantial rebuild was required"
Sounds like there may have been a pre-existing culture at Forest which Hughton struggled with. Hence its not always about finding a manager with the right track record, but also the right fit - and fans very rarely have sufficient insight into a club or dressing room to reliably predict who may be the 'right fit'. Throw in major squad turnover adding to instability then making the right appointment becomes far from an exact science. It's a gamble very time. Seem to recall Pearson having far less than a 100% success rate on managerial appointments. It'll be the same for the current owners.
Maybe in the top flight but without parachute payments, it’s very hard to build a team good enough to be able to accommodate players of Seri and Tufan’s quality as you’re describing when you say those around them aren’t upto the level. No one is disputing that, but whilst that’s the case we only highlight Seri and Tufan’s weaknesses…
Getting the impression Daws might be here for the next 3 games at least, given they happen within 7 days of each other. Be very interesting to see how we're all feeling after those if he won 2 or 3. And interesting to see how we play and set up on Sunday as he will have had an uninterrupted week to work with them.
If there's a prospective manager in the stands for the 3rd game and we've done OK in the other 2 then bet your life the usual suspects will be on slating Acun for not sticking with Dawson, even though we don't know if he feels he's ready for it or even wants it. If the new guy comes in and loses a couple then the stench of piss eminating from the clubs affiliated social media is gonna be unbearable.
so on this basis because you can’t match their quality they should be dropped in favour of players with a lesser ability… stick them both in with the Doc , Pelkas at 10, then Oscar and Big Ben up top ( when he’s fit) we will fly up the table.
Not sure where this "Tufan isn't mobile" talk has come from, he's more than capable of tracking back and covering ground and has done on several occasions. I think people have the "fat and lazy" idea etched into their subconscious now. He's very similar to Koren in the way that for parts of the game it'll pass him by, but when he gets on the ball you know there's quality. When we actually do end up with a goalscoring chance, he's more often than not involved in it. I wouldn't have him out of the team unless he's absolutely **** for a long period. Slater has been alright, he's had a few games where he's done really well but other than that he's been pretty average. Doc will take his place and deservedly so. I'd have Doc and Tufan as the two central midfielders and then Pelkas (if fit) in front of them. Sinik on the left, Williams on the right. Oscar through the middle. Williams and Sinik have the pace we need, both are decent crossers of the ball so for me that works. It means Pelkas can feed off the midfield or join in with his link up play, which he's shown to have a very good eye for. Some haven't been impressed by Williams, I was and there's a player in there I think we can use. Only 25 too so lots of room to improve. Longman needs to be dropped, would be nice to see Simons come in as he looked very good in the U21s game but only from the bench, otherwise we could end up with another Harvey Vale style debut. People are knocking Cannon, but he is a grafter and he will get stuck in, perhaps that's what we need. He'll want to impress and that might up his game. Or, give Olly Green or Harry Wood a go. There's a few of the U21s that might be ready to step up, a few are already training with the first team.
We can't keep the ball - Seri included. We certainly can't pass our way around the opponents press as we have proved several times this season We're not Man City - we can't play like Man City - we don't have the players to do it. We need to identify our strengths and play to them.
I don't see end product from Williams. Not to say he can't improve but I'd probably use Longman instead. He's due a notch.
We can't if we play like we have been doing, but that's not to say we don't have the capability, we've actually put together some decent moves this season, the issue has been doing it consistently. The bigger problem is getting the ball in the first place. We have the lowest ball winning rate in the league because we just don't press. At all. We either wait for a turnover from a dead ball or we hope for a mistake, there's no actual tackling going on in the midfield.
