Yeah I revised my initial point upon rewatching and then realising that i was watching it slow and so of course it looks like he could have avoided it and probably couldn't have The weirdest thing I saw was someone on BBC texting in saying the goalie got the ball. That is the one thing that didn't happen!
There’s an alternate universe out there where we got relegated a season or two ago, and absolutely tore up the Championship with Tella, Obafemi and Smallbone.
Might be interesting even if a little quiet. Who have we got worth keeping an eye on - Tella, Smallbone, Simeu, Liz, N'Lundulu, Tizzard. I suppose Stephens and Bednarek too.
Tella, Smallbone and Lis to see if they have much prospect of making our first team squad next year. I’m concerned might not start for Troyes which would make that loan strange / pointless Bednarek and Stephens to see how likely they might be to get either a permanent move away or another loan next year to help us with our wage bill Young players that might eventually have a future - Tizzard and Chauke. And probably Small But many of our loanees look like we are trying to do a very very low level chelsea job of trying to sell them to league one clubs or something. Because lots just don’t look like they will even play for us - Vokins, Watts, N’Lundulu Might also be worth casually noting on the progress of the likes of Delap. It is difficult to see us not trying again for him. But it is curious because if he is very successful we might be priced out and if he isn’t then we might not want him (at the prices rejected this summer at least). I can’t say I understand their strategy with him given they have the terminator playing for them. Other than as many loans as it takes to maybe make him get to the level of being a backup. And I expect that will be at least two more loans after this one. If they completely rule out selling then that rules us out. Our only chance is if his city colleagues really take off here and he really enjoys playing a full season of top level football. Even then he has a long contract
I’d happily put updates into a loan watch thread - I do check every weekend to see how the boys have done.
Saturday 10th September 2022. Southampton v Brentford - 15:00 KO Referee: Thomas Bramall. Assistants: Adrian Holmes, Wade Smith. Fourth official: Simon Hooper. VAR: Michael Salisbury. Assistant VAR: Neil Davies. Not an Official I have ever heard of. 31 years old from Sheffield.
Carrying on the tradition of giving rookie referees to the smaller clubs. If he makes a mistake, who's going to care anyway? I don't suppose he was even considered for the City v Spurs game.
Well, what do you expect? You can hardly give a referee who's refereed one or two PL games the biggest games. It's not a tradition - it's common sense. In most things in life, you work your way up to the top. Refereeing is no different.
