Probably my favourite Gk I have seen in a saints shirt.

 

That took ages to load and all I could think was, “If this isn’t Antti Niemi I’m going to throw my phone through a window.”

 

You just reminded me of this

A big dive there though. He could have stayed up and scored in my view

 

No chance, completely takes his foot away

 

His foot gets swept away, not sure how he could have stayed on his feet.

 

He very much left his foot there so it would get swept away if say

 

difference between slow motion and full speed. In slow motion he looks like he could have stepped or hopped over the leg - to my eyes. And it also looks like he massively over exaggerated fairly minimal contact - which he did.

i have been having a discussion with Americans today about the ridiculous divining in our football so this was on the top of my mind - I was explaining that they do it for reasons like this - to make it obvious that a penalty should have been given. Had he tried to stay up (which in my view he clearly did not do) he might not have got the penalty

 

It looks like this in slow motion. Whether that is actually the case at full speed is difficult to know for certain. He might have misstepped and made too short a one by accident and it worked out

 

I would say having played football to a high standard 20 years ago and I'm talking semi pro the game is fast. We could get away with it but when you're that fast the smallest of touches will send you that far off balance.
