I do just think if we don't get a striker in, it's a bit of an opportunity missed this season (or at least the first half of the season). Think we could have done/could do something special this year.
Very pleased both the Man City boys are 5 year deals. We could get 3 great years from them before they move on if they turn out great !
Definitely could turn out to be a missed opportunity. At the same time, all the signals are good: - Made a lot of great signings, all of which fit our long-term planning - Had money to spend on a deal beyond those that would have nearly doubled our record transfer, and nearly pulled it off. - When that deal fell through, we didn't panic and throw money at whatever dross was surplus to requirements somewhere else. There's a level of genuine confidence about our planning (as opposed to "relaxed and confident", that kiss of death) that is quite reassuring. We know what we want to do, and we appear to stick to it.
Yes, I do agree. And for all the talk of Broja etc, he only scored 6 for us last year - I'm pretty confident Mara would score at least that, given the same amount of minutes. But there's something about this season that makes me think "could have".
It does sound like Saints are going to try again for Gakpo so I do think we have a shot at him in Jan.
Absolutely. Which takes us back to "possible missed opportunity" - though as Shad says, I'm happy not to go for just anyone.
