Spurs released him so I'm not sure if I'm honest
The statement when we signed him said we'd agreed compensation. It was probably nominal though

Don't think we wanted him back, did we?
Depends what the thought process is with Cartwright too.
If he has a decent season on loan he could easily come back as first choice or at least competing with Ingram. He needs to get fit asap first though

Seems we're in a strong position on the keeper front. But with all 3 younger ones we're still speaking only of potential.
Of course, but we've still got Ingram as the no. 1
Who's leading the division for saves at the moment....

Cartwirghts injury really was awful timing. Was probably set to start the season as number 1, but will now have a hard time usurping the Chelsea loanee who's playing well (Copy of the Baxter/Ingram situation really)

Completely different scenarios, we were bottom of the league and he was desperate for something to change. P'boro are flying and would be a very bold move to drop himYet McCann gave Baxter his chance despite the form of Ingram. No reason why he wouldn't do the same at P'boro.

Having an option just means there's a fee with Chelsea pre-agreed. We would still have to agree terms with the player. Perhaps Ingrams form keeps him out and he doesn't want to be a number 2? Perhaps he plays out of his skin and someone comes in with a contract offer we can't match?
Having an option is far from making the signing a formality as you seem to be assuming. Lot of water to pass under the bridge between now and summer, and even if we do sign him, it would just mean 2 of Cartwright, Robson and Timothee would go out on loan again or we could decide to move one of those on if the right offer comes in and they aren't expected to challenge for the Jersey.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with having 3 promising young keepers under contract. Nothing at all.
Having an option also means terms with the player are agreed. It's the same with Salah from Arsenal.
They might be agreed but they certainly aren't signed.
If the player has a storming season, and he receives a better offer from elsewhere, there's nothing stopping him from taking it
I'm well aware, just as I was the last time you tried to make this argument no one was countering.
I'm still waiting for an example of a player on a loan with an option to buy being bought by another club despite the loaning club triggering the option though.
