The deal we've offered is a very fair one imo ( if what I've been told Is correct. )

Didn't Honeyman want a longer contract? And Greaves wants a shorter one? Can't bloody win!

I'd hope he's willing to sign a 3 year contract at least, otherwise we'll soon be in the same position we're in now.
I imagine City are pushing for 4 years + an option like they did with Sayyadmanesh and Cartwright.

That’s extremely naive of them IMO, he’s never signing that. Our best chance is signing him until end of next season with another option on top. Agents seem to think if hes tied down clubs won’t come get him. You’d think academy lads would want to benefit their club who’s got them to this point as much as possible financially before moving on

I’m sure there’s ways to work around contract length, without reducing the length. Such as a sensible release clause if an offer from a PL team only meets our valuation.

On the face of it they are good, but they can get really messy.... Let's say it's £15m. Does that £15m have to be paid upfront? Is it £15m in installments, does that £15m include add ons?. Most buy out clauses require full agrees amount upfront but in the flip side most deals these days are never financed like that.

A fair contract would be 3 years which is only 1 more then now, a pretty large pay increase and a solid platform to build his career on.... Chuck in the automatic increase if we go up and I just don't see why he wouldn't sign

I said exactly the same about KLP when his contract sarga was ongoing.... Sign the deal, take the wage increase and jeep doing what your doing and the big move will come and it did. Greaves is in a strong position as we are a totally different club with different ambitions..... Within the 3yrs he may well be in the prem with us, his home town club.

I think a lot of players and agents would’ve taken the Harry Kane fiasco last summer as a lesson learned regarding players committing to long contracts. Kane learned the hard way that contracts are a two-way street when he signed a six-year deal in 2018 then tried to force a move away last summer as soon as Man City came sniffing. Young players might be more wary about committing to long-term deals now, even if they have a sentimental relationship with the club.

Thing is it’s different in an established premier league side now. In the championship, you bid 8 figures for a side who don’t have parachute payments they’re 9/10 times saying yes. So he’s not selling his career short doing it at this level

Do you actually believe playing for your home town club means anything to players these days, it's money and playing for a big club and in the prem , if he got promoted with us do you honestly think he or anyone else would stay with us if an established premiership club come calling?.

Playing for your home town club does not mean anything like it used be be years ago when some of us were growing up and money was not what it is today flooding the game.

If you believe otherwise give your head a shake.

Don't get this Greaves love in - he's part of the problem at the back, too many mistakes including silly penalties , often loses his man, often in wrong position, doesn't seem to be able to head the ball in the right direction, freezes when has a chance at scoring, constant cross field hoofs to opposition full back, constantly stops attacks to start passing backward and sideways to Jones who does exactly the same - please tell me what Prem team wants any of that - if we get offered $5 million take it - don't get it at all

No I don't think or expect anyone to stay should a established PREM club come calling but I'd like to think a Hull lad would rather be promoted with hull as opposed to Middlesbrough for example and you may not think it, but players do still strive to play for their home town clubs

Oh and my head's fine btw, definitely doesn't need a shake
