He also went into Reid's office before the t-shirt incident saying he wanted a move and couldn't play for us against Newcastle
He seems to similar to LND and Simms so I'd be surprised if we go for him. I'd imagine the club would want someone who can fill a number of positions up front
Then there's Mickey Gray. All ready and set to sign for Newcastle untill his friends and family stepped in. Words from his own mouth on talkSPORT about a year ago when they were on about playing for your rival ie Bent at Spurs as an Arsenal fan etc.
Wouldnt suprise me, young lad lost his way a bit since moving to Mallorca, was touted to be Lewandowski replacement a few years back as Bayern were keeping tabs on him.
I remember Bally grabbing hold of him by the shirt It was in a cup match he was not putting effort in and if we won would have played newcastle
Must not forget Ron Guthrie from the 73 cup final and sub David Young who showed the mags how to win a trophy , geordies never learn though - still haven’t- long may it continue!!!
bally was not 'one of us' in the sense he was born here or came through the ranks, yet he never let that get in the way... he was a true professional and you can imagine he would have been exactly the same at any club, ie: this is the club he played for and he gave everything to that club.
“In hindsight, because of my background, it was probably a mistake signing for Sunderland. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy my two seasons on Wearside, I had two of the best years of my life “But everyone knows I’m Newcastle through and through and I couldn’t give 100% for Sunderland against the club I love. And if I couldn’t do that I’d have been cheating on Peter Reid, his number two Bobby Saxton, the fans and all my team-mates. “It was best that I went and Reidy knew how I felt before what happened at Wembley with t-shirtgate. In the past, when I said I couldn’t play for the Black Cats against the Magpies I was accused of being unprofessional. “I don’t think it was. I was just being honest. It was how I felt at the time and I still feel the same now. Ask any die-hard Newcastle fan or Sunderland supporter and they will understand. I know for a fact they will empathise with me.” I think that's fair enough. He done a great job while he was here and he was successful. I'd rather that than just not try like some of them.
Quinny had no affiliation with us before he joined but I just love this quote from him 'I learned my trade at Arsenal, became a footballer at Manchester City, but Sunderland got under my skin.I love Sunderland'.
Chelsea are closing in on Cucurella and Fofana. They've already signed Sterling and Koulibaly. This will take their spending to about 180 million, already.
