I am not too sure about this one personally. Not convinced by him as a player. Mind you if he is one Alex wants then I am all for it. Just personally think if we are in the loan market I would be in for others above him.

He’s quality and can play as a 9,10 or out wide. Would cover a few positions, it’s a no brainer if we can get him. If we get both him and Broadhead that’s the strikers we need and we can move onto other positions.

can’t recall anyone receiving the level of booing which was game long and the loudest , I think everyone felt so let down by him walking away when everything was going so well for him and the club - money grabber !!!

Its the timing aswell. He could have done the decent thing and waited until the end of the season, but he left us with about a week to go before window shut in January with no time to replace him.
He came to us from Spurs reserves, got a new lease of life and managed to get back into the England squad and thats how he repaid us.

Wasn’t it Fabio Capello that said he needed to move away from SAFC to get picked for England?

I felt really quite bitter towards him when he left. Mainly because he was so bloody good. His full season was unreal and I honestly thought he was one of the best we had seen. The second season we brought Gyan in and I felt Bent was played slightly differently and it wasnt quite as good for him. Maybe that was part of his reasoning, but I agree money was clearly a thing and the timing was rotten.

I just dont see him ahead of Stewart or Broadhead as the striker. We have Pritch and Embo as the 10 options. Clarke on the left. I dont see him as better or different enough, but hope you are right.

If I was playing fantasy footy I would try for Delap at Man City on loan - he has all sorts of ability and time to see him in 1st team football. I am a fan of Balogun at Arsenal and he could be available on loan. There is also our own Sam Greenwood who needs to get some game time and would be interesting loan option in the championship.

Welcome to the 5 new members viewing this thread... hope you are all looking forward to the new season and hopefully new signings Alex hinted at the other day.
I spend hours on this message board and have done since I worked out how much better it is than "over there". I almost never post as I don't have anything useful to say, but I really appreciate the insight, debate and humour. Thanks, all!

Stewart is our lone striker so whoever we sign is going to be on the bench unless he’s injured. City aren’t letting Liam Delap go anywhere to sit on the bench when he’s good enough to walk into any championship team and will have plenty of offers. If we can get a decent young player who can cover a few positions across the front line and his parent club understand that he’ll be rotated rather than starting every week that’ll be a good result for us. Broadhead can also play on the left which is cover for Clarke so we’ll have good options all round

Yep - that’s why I posted what I did about the Parrott crack earlier. It’s been absolutely done to death over the road it’s boring.

The club apparently said last night at the fans meeting that the broadhead rumours were rubbish ‍♂️
