Research perhaps, bankruptcies all over the shop from the main man but if he’s been given an “exclusive” then of course you’re inclined to break it. However, he’s been played by Methven here, IMO.
Yep. Think RR appears desperate to get something right, or get it early. They are misunderstanding their jobs and roles, such as they are. They are a fan site, that's all, not Rueters . You would think they might have learned by now.
That's exactly what I'm hoping for/expecting. Despite what some think I believe KLD is a sharp operator surrounded by sharp operators. Methven's position is seriously shaky. He has nothing to offer but a handful of shares with no influence, seat on the board or even any value unless they're sold on for a profit. Donald is little better off but there's a chance he can sell 'into the family' if he gets real with the price. It's more likely that KLD would overpay Sartori, for his, than pay Donald's price, even at market value. Unlike other buyers KLD/MLD don't have to fork out half a million on due diligence, solicitors, etc. In the meantime it's business as usual.
That's fantastic mate. We've been here since February but our exploring has been mainly work related. The grandkids will appreciate everyone's tips.
He has done something wrong though. If he claims to be a journalist, then he should do what a journalist does. Minimum double check, and in profile cases, triple cross check. Clearly he is not doing anything of the kind. And even if today's definition of a journalist means he is one, he most certainly is not what a journalist should be , used to be, or should aspire to be. Anyone can pass half checked gossip on. It seems more checks are done by people who post stuff on here, and this is a gossip forum.
I am staggered this is still rumbling on in the 'media'. It was put to bed within a couple of hours. When I first read I laughed out loud and moved on in my own head. The advent of the internet has allowed anybody with an internet connection to write opinion pieces, or spread 'news'. There are no qualifications needed, nor it seems a degree of common sense. @Smug in Boots has mentioned the great Doug Weatherall on here recently. I dont imagine for one minute he would be giving this story any ink whatsoever. There are still some good journalists out there, but they are dwindling number.
I'd normally agree. But this isn't a normal situation. If he has a purchaser and a seller in a transaction both telling him its happening, and he's seen them together discussing it, that IS a triple cross-check. There's no way he can prove they're lying.
Many presenters are qualified journalists. "Tom was then given another opportunity to become a reporting journalist for Sky Sports still. A while after he then became one of the first hosts of the, new at the time, Sky Sports Radio in Leeds."
And this is why I think his only mistake is that he hasn't followed up his tweet(s) with a final one saying "Looking at their history, this seems like a complete non-starter, but it shows some of the games being played" or something like that Instead he's acted, and is continuing to act, like it might happen. which all that is doing is giving it credibility and giving them further publicity
It's obvious that "someone" loves dropping little bullshit executives to media outlets just for seemingly a laugh. "Someone" leaked a story that the party "Someone" leaked it too, got t-shirts printed, because why wouldn't not believe "Someone" because of the position they had? "Someone" has lead Tom up the garden path good and propper.
I think everyone is is laying into Tom totally unfairly. If there are groups actively engaged in trying to buy Sunderland or a share in Sunderland and the people selling the shares are actively engaging with them and agreeing a price then I want to know that, and given the amount of conversation on here and RTG about ownership issues I suggest many more would want to know that.
The stick Tom White is getting is utterly ridiculous. He's not a journalist in the traditional sense but through his job he gets info. He's clearly stated he's waited and waited to see if there is anything to it, then he's relayed that info with details of how he got it. He's never said if he's for or against it either.
Discovered Kippford when staying at Castle Douglas just before the pandemic, love the place. Planning to go back up again.
He calls himself a journalist in his statement to Roker Report. Quick read of his bio though and it only mentions a degree in media presentation or something like that.
