Cairney went for about £400k, we didn't have much of a sell on either, certainly not as much as we'd have liked. Doubt he'll get a big money move now so it's irrelevant anyway.

Clubs do double down on young players because they add to value, but there's no sense having loads because it stifles the pathway to the first team.

We sold Cairney to Blackburn anyway didn't we? So any sell on would have been recouped when he went to Fulham.

People always say it was a mistake to sell Cairney, and Corry Evans too. But at the time we'd just signed Huddlestone and Livermore and had Meyler, Koren and Quinn too who were all better at the time, and we went on to have our best ever season with that team. Cairney improved after moving to Blackburn, apparently learned to apply himself a lot better which was a bit of an issue when he was with us, as I understand.

He didn't give a flying fig when leaving us. We don't need sick notes at the MKM.

Nor did Diamé, Livermore, Brady, Clucas etc.

Only one who we could realistically sign that I’d have back in addition to Huddlestone is Davies on a short-term deal on modest wages. I think both Huddlestone and Davies have a future as coaches and would love them as part of Shota’s staff.

Sure we bagged around 750k sell on from the deal when he joined Fulham from Blackburn.

Can't be arsed to check.

Yes I think we should have loaned him out again rather than selling him. Bruce just didn't rate him because he barely saw him play.

People always talk as if cairney was the same player he is now when he left us, but he's improved dramatically since then.

But that also doesn't mean he'd have still improved at the same rate if he'd have stayed.

Sometimes players just need a move to kick on - otherwise we could all still be moaning that all he does is pass sideways.

We wasn't talking about the others but yes same applies to them.
I've already said I'd like Curtis back.
