I thought the sale of Corry Evans was a mistake, he was more mobile than Huddlestone and would have provided good cover. We did have better players, but Koren would never have played the deeper role in that team and I think Evans would have been a cheap, handy squad option to have. But I did enjoy watching Stephen Quinn, he was excellent.
Evans was never good enough for the Pl and rightly sold
Hudd Livermore Quinn meyler way down the pecking order and not good enough anyway

I remember Meyler said on a podcast that during our last season in the Prem, some players just downed tools and ****ed about and disrupted training sessions on purpose during the 2017 January transfer window to force through moves to other clubs. He explicitly said Livermore was one.

Slutsky also said in an interview that during the first week at City, he had players such as Clucas come to him demanding to be sold. I wouldn’t touch any of these mercs with a ten foot pole now.

Got a link to that pod?

Acun's quote 'we will sign players in this window, maybe not the most expensive players, but good players. Then from next summer we will be building for promotion' - or words to that effect.

That's exactly what we've got.

It is. Almost feels like some of these signings are just to get us through.

I'm pretty amazed that only 1 of the signings is from abroad. I don't believe for a second that was the plan

League 1 TOTS season before we won it. Free kick specialist, similar style of footballer to Doc/Honeyman. Energetic midfielder, perfect for our style.
Hope so! Swansea fans don’t seem to rate him at all but we’ve seen that before with Sunderland and Honeyman so I’ll keep an open mind :emoticon-0103-cool:

Good window I think. Decent players in, and no decent players out.

It wasn’t long ago that all we wanted to do was stay up this year to buy a new owner time to build in the summer window.

This feels a step above that. Given that it’s still unlikely, I think, we’ll go up or down, this builds nicely so Shota can see where we are and where we need strengthening next window.

UTT

Wonder what the story is with Allayhar only being a loan with a view to a permanent, after all the talk of 4m fee, then 2m fee, and 50% sell-ons etc.

Not right now, sorry. I can’t remember if it was a clip from Off The Ball. I saw the clip initially on Twitter. Iirc the interviewer asked Meyler if one of his teammates during his playing career ever tried to force a transfer through and he gave the example of Livermore forcing his move to West Brom. Said during training sessions, Livermore would just prat about and boot the ball off the pitch when someone passed to him. Quite ****ish and immature behaviour. He mentioned Livermore by name but said ‘a few lads did it’ which leads me to believe Snodgrass probably did similar antics as he left at the same time.

Would have liked to see some defensive cover but apart from that a very good window. I suppose with Alfie Jones, Elder and Coyle all back or close to a return there's adequate cover there for now. The other area we needed strengthening was up top, and on paper we seem to have done just that. More bodies in the "engine room" of midfield is never a bad thing either (even if the Walsh signing was a bit random)

Allahyar is a loan to ensure it he doesn't gel or we go down were not 4m quid out of pocket and stuck with his wages.

I suspect (don't know) also there is probably an agreement to sign Walsh in summer if he fits too.

It's good business. Allayahar and Forss look to have genuine quality - along with Eaves and Smith we should have enough up top.

We have genuine Smallwood and Honeyman cover.

Good, astute window for me, given there's work still to do to retain our league status this year.

We’ll buy him in the Summer. We have first option and an agreed fee, so even if he bags in a goal a game, we would be in pole position and nobody else could do anything about it.

Would be nice if there was an agreement to sign all of the loans on permanents if they work out, but I know that only really suits us!

Anyone know if there's any agreements in dish's or baxters loans?

Can't imagine Brentford giving us one for Forss
