The truth is it may be that KLD is taking the shares but from the statements its quite likely this is a family enterprise which not only increases available funds but also a fair bit of expertise which can only help.

Yep, I hope so... First benchmark is end of January transfer window, with ins and outs.. together with results and manner of playing under new(ish) manager.

Boxing day and no footie to go to... seems wrong..

Was swinging from the light fitting until I read it still has to go before the efl. They wouldn’t spoil this, would they? They seem to enjoy screwing us, but not with this, surely? Someone please put my mind at ease. Tell me me they won’t spoil it!

It'll be fine. I believe the EFL get involved twice. Once is just to do the fit and proper persons test (officially called the owners and directors test iirc). I think when some said the deal was at the EFL this was the bit they meant as it could be completed at any time even when the final level of shareholding hadn't been agreed. There are disqualifying conditions but KLD would likely sail through it.

The second bit is likely when the full deal is presented to them including details of the business plan and how it will all be funded. If they think it would put the club at risk, and if the source of the funding isn't clear, then there could be a problem. That's highly unlikely here given KLDs wealth. Its very obvious where the money would come from, and I think it highly unlikely that they won't have a clear, fully costed business plan. The EFL approved whatever plan and funding Donald had, KLD will piss it. I'd say there's a 99.999% chance it'll go through. The EFL might be a set of arseholes but it's a tough time for their clubs and I think they'll welcome all the billionaire owners they can get, it's one less club for them to have to worry about.

Survived yesterday's festivities despite having the "mother of all hangovers" after Thursday's news. Taking it a bit easy today although a few drinks on my 58th birthday wouldn't be amiss.
Just want to say well done to all the fans on here who stuck their head above the parapet despite abuse. Not necessarily on here it has to be said.
Smug, who always stood by his belief, Magnus who was always getting stained with being a Mag! Just cos of the 1st 3 letters of his username <doh> and Prehab for his snippets at at times of personal grief. Wheatsheaf too and others I've missed, sorry.
Thanks Lads/Lasses. <cheers>
Have a great Xmas. Good times may be a coming. It's the Hope I Cant Stand. KTF.
Happy birthday mate, get a few down ya man, what makes you bad makes you better :emoticon-0148-yes:

I have no idea why people think they should be paid more to live in the north east, if they dont want to be there they should be ****ed off, it has some of the best countryside, beaches and friendliest people in the country, I know, I live in Devon with inbred unfriendly ****ers

It's because shops, restaurants, shops, nightclubs and shops are what the wives & girlfriends, of wealthy young men, want above all else.

They know most will never win trophies so they want the 'glamour' that comes with money.

Newcastle, despite loads of pubs and a busy Friday night, suffer from the same problem as us ...

... being stag night central may appeal to students and locals but it's too low rent for the WAGS.

They should pick their wives and girlfriends with more care, FFs you can be anywhere in the country in an hour with that amount of money

If they dont want to be there they can **** off

I'd guess they choose them for how they look in expensive underwear ...

... rather than their appreciation of beautiful windswept beaches and countryside tbh.

Just as with any family they'll all, especially his mother, want this to be a huge success. The name alone will attract the attention of scouts, agents, clubs and players around Europe and beyond. Setting out a clear plan and aims will attract the right kind of player, ones with ambition and a love of the game.
Lets forget about using money to bring in jaded lumps like Graham who have nothing to play for.

In fact an exciting vision can help us save money. Which L1 hot prospect would now choose any other club above us ...

... if they want the money, let someone else put it in their pockets. Other clubs may offer a little more but the players will have inferior facilities, stadium, support, etc. If players want to be bribed to live in the NE, instead of London, etc, just cross them off the list, if their girlfriends want the bright lights the players can take their lack of ambition elsewhere and party.

These lockdowns have been a massive shock to football players, they've been reminded that it's actually an advantage to play in front of crowds, despite the added pressure, because without the supporters it's the same training, same game, same pay cheque but shyte. Players coming to Sunderland will never play in front of bigger crowds unless they reach the PL, even then it's only a 50/50 chance.

Get this club energised and anything's possible, anyone not totally committed shouldn't be anywhere near the place.

100% spot on my fine fellow.

I used to drink in the Bigg Market every Saturday night and once saw Lee Bowyer in Flares nightclub (whilst he was playing for Newcastle), went over to speak to him and was warned off by 3 big burly bouncers who I then realised were surrounding him. Must have been slumming it, curious as to how the great unwashed lived <laugh>

Aye but you could be moving to Australia though and they’re a lot more inbred.

Once they’ve seen The Bridges and Jacky Whites then they’ll be moving up to Sunderland in a shot. Mark my words!

It’s interesting that KLD’s statement refers to co-operation over the last 3 months, and this thread started 5 months ago? Indeed it’s also 5 months since Nick Barnes tweeted about period of exclusivity.

Maybe reading too much into it (as always), but it does feel more likely that the original takeover being mooted on here (with Furman) may have fallen through or not happened etc and then KLD stepped in as a back up?

Or alternatively KLD has been involved for 5 months but is only willing to thank Donald with how he’s behaved for the last 3 :D
