And there are many who ignore the politics and carry the message of standing up to racism. People can choose to interpret it how they wish, taking a knee doesn’t have to mean you’ll put the window of Specsavers through.

And not taking the knee or supporting it doesn't mean you walk around with swastikas tattooed on your forehead, dragging your knuckles?

I find racists like to use “whataboutary” arguments as a way of hiding behind their prejudices.

The players can be excused their ignorance to an extent, as they live in a very privileged bubble that most people cannot even begin to imagine, so it's understandable if they are out of touch, but the marketing bods really should know better than to link to a movement that it is actually against the law to discuss in schools without very significant caveats.

Anyone looking on google would find the first pages confirming what BLM represents. https://lmgtfy.app/?q=black lives matter

They are, without a doubt a racist movement, that is attempting to circumvent the political process to bring down democracy. That is what people are complaining about. Opposing them is actually opposing racism.

    Many black people agree.

The Millwall fans have said as much, but unfortunately social media keeps removing their posts.

The players, the clubs and the governing bodies are all stating that the taking of the knee is a show of support for the fight against racial injustice and nothing to do with the politics of the BLM movement, yet people still try and claim otherwise.

And disappointingly, the no politics rule seems to have completely gone out the window here.

As a traditionalist I want to see a football match kick off without all this minutes applause for this that and the other, or taking the knee or anything else turning it into a side show. The only exception should be a minutes silence on the eleventh of the eleventh, anything else dilutes the importance of that.
If Millwall or any football fans are so racist why are there so many coloured/foreign players playing for our clubs without any hassle at all ? As in Millwall's case a coloured played has been voted for as the player of the season twice on trot by the fans, does that mean that only black fans voted for him ? Players are signed on ability, not colour of their skin, I'd cheer just as loud if a coloured/poka dot/pink or lime green skinned player scored a goal for us. Colour or race doesn't come into it and I don't see why football should become the scapegoat in all of this. Are they taking the knee before the curtain goes up at the theatre or before any other arts/entertainment performance ?
Why don't they take the knee before Stricktly ? They get a bigger watching audience then all of a weekend's football combined ? If the message HAS to be repeated every week let's see it taken before every programme on the BBC.
    Leave politics out of football.
That, or my age, or the fact that I am white working class male doesn't make me a racist and I resent anyone who hangs that label around my neck.

As mentioned previously, they can claim what they like, but it's naive ignorance to continue to use a term that has very negative connotations with many, many people.

Anyone with the remotest understanding of marketing would change the scheme, not try to reinvent perceptions that are very valid.

I find some people who show concerns about some and not others are showing their own prejudices.
And need to be careful when they accuse others of things.

It's funny really, a lot of folk disagreeing with taking a knee, getting really wound up about it. Guess what, thats what is should do, thats society chipping away at you, maybe slowly, but chipping away, forcing you to challenge your own views and self reflect. For some it will force them in the other extreme direction and they will be outed, they will cause a fuss on the way but thats just just part of the process.

I don't get the argument that it is divisive if you're not racist. I appreciate there are people who are not racist disagreeing. For instance I sympathise with those that come from bad backgrounds and haven't had a fair shake in life, those that probably share a lot of the struggles black communities face yet are ignored and have nobody standing up for them. However, If there is a division, and you're not racist, then what is the division? Those that support an anti racism gesture Vs those that think politics doesn't belong in football? I don't buy it, thats hardly a division that should worry society, so it must be something else wether you want to admit it or not. Im still not necessarily suggesting racism, maybe you feel attacked as a white man and it forces a defensive reaction or maybe you just don't like players knees getting dirty?

Whichever it is, it's all aimed at you.

I don't judge you so please don't hang labels around my neck.
You don't know me, my background, my family, you know nothing about me only that I support Hull City.
It isn't a use of language either, it how I speak, and it tells you nothing.
I could hang labels around your neck based on your user name alone but I wouldn't be so shallow.

    You totally miss the point.

Opposing black lives matter IS standing up to racism. To continue to support that movement, whether by accident or design, is condoning a demonstrably racist organisation.

I've quoted several eminent and informed black people whose views I share pretty much 100%. Presumably you would describe them as racist too?

And what evidence do you have of anyone being a racist ****?
Any reason you get when a Muslim is harmed, or even criticised, but not when they harm someone?

I understand racist views. I’ve witnessed them first hand. I don’t understand why anybody would be against any anti-racism action. Unless, of course, they’re racist.

There’s many racists on here, encouraged by our own racist moderator,

I don't think OLM is actually racist, I just don't think he quite grasps the issues.

In my opinion you’re a racist old ****. Your language confirms this. Resent me for it, it doesn’t change what you are.
