I might be on my own here, but if it is Johnson, I really don't have a problem. Young Ambitious and did a great job at Bristol City. He was really unlucky to get the push there. I have made my peace of where we are as a club, and we can attract only a certain calibre of manager and for me Johnson would be one I would accept right now.
As much as I've tried to erase our last Championship season from my memory the two teams I remember being very decent were Brentford and Bristol City. The rest were garbage. If he got us playing like that I'd be happy.

Not over the moon with all this restructuring. The more heads of departments you have the greater the danger of personality clashes and egos going head to head. I’ve seen a thriving steel construction industry destroyed because of this.
Sign of the times now mate, I’m ok with it as it shows we might just be heading in the right direction at last

Exactly - essentially in a completely crude sort of way, if we get these 2 Brummies in:
  • Speakman replaces Richard Hill
  • Dodds replaces Paul Reid

Obviously its not exactly like-for-like and their roles will be seemingly quite different.

The question is now whether they will also bring in a more senior football person to sit above that. Who'd be taking away a lot of the footballing related senior stuff from Jim Rodwell.

Just another thought which is half tongue in cheek

One of the few things known about KLD is he's a football manager addict.

Speakman is very highly rated on football manager.

So perhaps he is KLD's guy :D

This is a good point so I suppose you have to make sure people can work together. Its a more continental way of doing things which is understandable with new continental owners. If it works the way it does at places like Ajax and Barcelona I reckon we won't mind too much.

Hope its not Cowleys I know they are pragmatic and might get us up
But had my fill of this with Parkinson
Just want a team that plays football and are actually entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
Been hideous lately even when we've won
And who’s your choice of manager who is going to get this team entertaining and enjoyable to watch dying to know.

There are suggestions that, because Speakman isn't French or Uruguayan, he must've been appointed by Rodwell and, therefore, Methven.

In their minds that means Donald is still pulling the strings and nothing will change.

Just out of interest, and with all the usual caveats, I was told FPP had been advised by football people here.

I'd imagine the new people will be doing just that.

<laugh>
Sure the new people will want to keep FPP 'in the loop' in some way mate.

as I've said above, so far if these 2 guys come in we haven't actually added any new roles - just replaced old ones

Thats why we are laying the foundations and bringing this team in now. We've never really had the pathways into the first team. if these guys can produce talent and get them into the first team then thats surely got to be better than signing ****e like Graham and Grigg. I'd much rather have the likes of Neil, Diamond and Curry in our first team than some of the utter dross we have signed in the last couple of seasons. if nothing else it will save us a few bob!
Is that your ideal Friday night?

Don't worry fella. I get what you say...we're from the same generation you and I. Think of it more as talented people complementing each other rather than competing with each other.

Thanks Norton Cat. That’s cheered me up a bit.
