Probably finish up back at Burton Albion. If he wants to play for Oz he better find himself a club fast.
Elliott Bonds has suffered a serious knee injury whilst out on loan at Cheltenham.... out for a prolonged period of time,.... hope the surgery goes well and he recovers!!
Thanks, hadn't thought of that. So we've managed to shift one youngster, who wasn't close to the first team. I don't understand what the thinking is, unless there just isn't any.
The move has got to be right for both parties. It’s also worth pointing out that because fans aren’t allowed in, it means scouts struggle to get around to watch players too. We don’t just send players to other teams just because we’re bigger. We used to do that with Ferriby, but the level they are playing at makes it pointless.
I would imagine a lot of league 1-2 clubs are watching every single penny and won’t want to contribute anything to any wages for players they don’t own .
Speaking of loans, didn't know which thread to ask this in, but can anyone remember the link to United that led us to having so many of their players on loan 2010-12? Was it Joyce or someone else?
Yes Joyce was Manchester United reserves manager for several years. https://www.oncloudseven.com/707-warren-joyce/
It was Joyce yeah, though he now has the same role at Salford. Not sure it would have the same impact.
We’re generally looking at non league for the players with no experience and they can go on loan outside the window.
I appreciate that, I was more wondering about why we're not looking for league experience for fringe youngsters like Jones C, Arthur, Ritson, Sheaf, Chadwick etc.
Scouts are still allowed into the grounds to watch games, tightly controlled and only one ticket per scouting team, us for example are limiting it to 6 scouts per home game and have have used the exec boxes to keep the scouts distanced some games. They also have to be at the match an hour (ISH) before KO and go through temp screening and a few other bits before being allowed in
Oh I figured they weren't allowed in because they usually sit in the crowd. Are they still allowed in grounds where the lockdown is tier 3?
At the moment yes, but things could change as they always seem to do ATM. One of the scouts I know who was at our game Tuesday actually commented on how well organised it all was, how well they where looked after and that it was the most thorough set up they had seen so far this season. The ones I have spoken to are actually preferring it with no fans as they can hear a lot more of the communication between the players&coaches and can then see how the players react to instructions etc
The reason I ask is on our podcast we've just started a series looking back at the 2010s and I knew it was someone at United we had ties to but for some reason was sure it wasn't Joyce! But yeah that makes complete sense. Quite a conveyor belt of talent we had through our doors from them at a time when we really needed it.
I got that wrong then, but I'd only seen him in a sub appearance in the EFL Cup at Leeds and I thought he looked really impressive in a short time. Shows how much I know then.
