I love the logic. "You have been accused of trying to buy your way out of the situation, and we have found the accusation proven, therefore we sentence you to pay us some money and that will be an end to it." :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Having being convicted of football related violence, shouldn't he banned from grounds?

He’s been given a suspended sentence anyway, so won’t cost him anything (other than lawyers fees, as he’s appealing it).
"won't cost him anything" are you mad. If he is innocent or this has been somehow blown up out of all proportion by the Greeks then I would think he will be feeling terrible. Damage to his mental health and his family too. Have you read the comments on Twitter from rival supporters. Money isn't everything.

Shouldn't he have his passport taken from him like the hoolies?

The court heard today how Maguire told Greek police 'don't you know who I am?

Your starter for 10. Where have we heard that one before?
Famous bloke visiting relative in old folks home was getting grief from somebody, 'Don't you know who I am?' he says, no I don't but if you ask the nurse over there I'm sure she'll be able to tell you came the reply...

I was referring purely to the financial implications.

You get the impression Maguire has been well and truly stitched up. His Sister apparently injected with something causing her to collapse. Who wouldn’t go mental.
If that happened, I completely agree
I suspect, like most things, the truth will be somewhere in the middle though.
I think ‘Albanians poisoned my sister’ is as likely as really using the phrase ‘do you know who I am, I’m the Man United captain’
Both possible...but I’m not convinced by either.

Seconded.

Mick Jagger once came out with that line to a receptionist at a hotel in the Caribbean. "Of course I do, sir" she answered brightly. "You are the gentleman staying in room 13."

Some knobhead drinking with Bullard in Beech Tree said it to my brother on behalf of Bullard after our kid had ****ed him off from standing near him...for also being a knobhead.
He didn’t know who he was (lives in London and has no interest in football), told him that, but also explained it wasn’t relevant...he was a knobhead whoever he was.
