Great thread, nice mix of people, terrific information and memories of great bands and music, I love it, I was watching Sky Arts today and guess what ' Jefferson Airplane ' was the feature band, brilliant, remember 'White Rabbit' .... A brief reminder..( I did google for the song, my memory remembers tunes and some of the words) Lyrics 'One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall..'
if you enjoy that generation of music i highly reccomend a listen of the bands final album, the last waltz, some great performances by great bands on there,
Mate I'll try to look it out, I love all music through my times, Sinatra, Matt Monro, Bobby Vee, Del Shannon, Everlies, ELVIS, Lennon, Cat Stevens, Dylan, Jeff Lynne,David Gates, David Grey...etc, etc it goes on and on, I have always lived for music, I just love it..
The Brian Johnson programmes are brilliant. The programme is called Brian Johnson - A Life On The Road To date I've seen him interview Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, Billy Joel, Mark Knopfler, Mick Fleetwood, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers, Nick Mason, Joe Elliott and Sting. The best ones for me were the ones with Joe Walsh (in L.A) just really funny all the way through, Mark Knopfler in Tynemouth, and Mick Fleetwood (in Hawaii)
Originally backing one Robert Alan Zimmerman, aka Bob Dylan, but gaining popularity in their own right. Great album.
Mike - wasn't Neil Young a Canadian? A band that certainly were from your part of the world. I doubt there were many bands who had a frontman whose name was Fred.
And who could forget Martha & The Muffins who were also Canadian. Echo Beach has to be one of my all time favourite pop songs ! I have tickets to several gigs up for later in the year but whether they will happen is anyone's guess Ozzy Osbourne - Birmingham on Halloween Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons - Bristol in November Michael Schenker - Wolverhampton in December
Well done, and there's also Steppenwolf (Born To Be Wild), The Guess Who, Nickelback etc all which originated from Canada.
Just hope the line in Big Yellow Taxi doesnt come back to haunt you over your manager. Dont it always seem to go That you dont know what youve got til its gone......
Must be an urban myth then like when everyone in the early 1970's thought that David Bowie was Australian I would have bet real money on them being from Canada
