Great thread, nice mix of people, terrific information and memories of great bands and music, I love it, I was watching Sky Arts today and guess what ' Jefferson Airplane ' was the feature band, brilliant, remember 'White Rabbit' ....
A brief reminder..( I did google for the song, my memory remembers tunes and some of the words)

Lyrics
'One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall..'

The Brian Johnson programmes are brilliant. The programme is called Brian Johnson - A Life On The Road
To date I've seen him interview Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, Billy Joel, Mark Knopfler, Mick Fleetwood, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers, Nick Mason, Joe Elliott and Sting.
The best ones for me were the ones with Joe Walsh (in L.A) just really funny all the way through, Mark Knopfler in Tynemouth, and Mick Fleetwood (in Hawaii)

Originally backing one Robert Alan Zimmerman, aka Bob Dylan, but gaining popularity in their own right.
Great album.

Look Mike, just get your head around this Marriott/Frampton vid.

They didn't last that long together before Frampton went on his own and on to better things, but what they put together for a couple of years was classic.

Worthy of Aber's Music Thread on our board Sparks.

I used to have several Bread albums and David Gates was a really prolific songwriter but he seemed to retire, if that's the right word, very early.
But he was the main man the way that Jeff Lynne was to ELO, Henley/Frey were to the Eagles, Mark Knopfler was to Dire Straits, and David Coverdale was to Whitesnake.
Despite some massive successes, many bands have split, had fist fights, or have had major personnel changes over money/royalties/songwriting credits, or had serious disagreements about future musical direction causing band members to leave.
Deep Purple, Rainbow, Guns N Roses, Motorhead, Slade, Sweet, the Who, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Eagles, ELO, Whitesnake, Ramones, Dire Straits, the Kinks, Thin Lizzy, all come to mind with little effort,

And don't even get started on Yes.

And who could forget Martha & The Muffins who were also Canadian. Echo Beach has to be one of my all time favourite pop songs !

I have tickets to several gigs up for later in the year but whether they will happen is anyone's guess

Ozzy Osbourne - Birmingham on Halloween
Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons - Bristol in November
Michael Schenker - Wolverhampton in December
