He has a point though. I'm not 'sacred' about going out, but how many of us on here are entirely comfortable about close contact with strangers?

For 6 weeks or so my only expeditions out of the house have been for dog walks and one trip to B&Q where you wait in the car park they bring your pre-ordered stuff on a trolley, you get out of the car and you then pack it away.

The thought of playing a close contact sport is far from my mind. The Premier League have to remember that the players are humans too, not commodities and have the same fears as all of us.

I am genuinely becoming more and more afraid of going out.
My wife has been in isolation for 5 weeks or so, and there is only one source of infection, open to her - me.
People in shops are becoming more blasé about maintaining distance and twice this morning the same woman ignored the floor directional markings and walked against the flow and into my space whilst merrily talking on her phone.
There should be temporary rules brought in, making it legal to twat anyone who gets too close to you, during this crisis.

Should be armed patrols within supermarkets and anyone who steps outside their 2 meter zone illegally just gets ironed out. Problem solved.

I have been given a nod that the Premier League is going to be played at St George’s Park in a World Cup style, behind closed doors, but on television. teams will stay in hotels in the vicinity and use local Pro clubs training facilities to train. They will stay there away from family/friends in isolation until the completion. Players, staff etc will be tested. 2/3 games will be played a day and streamed live.

Fecking joke

I have had this from someone who knows someone who works logistics for football. It may be bollocks yet. I hope so.

Come on Saints, refuse to play, take relegation and **** the PL off

Read this on another site two or three days ago, some of the replies were entertaining.

If this does go ahead, I hope that teams who have nothing to play for put out their weakest teams.
I would also sincerely hope that once we get enough points to be safe, that we take key players out of the firing line to reduce the risk of wear and tear injuries, caused by too playing to frequently over a short period, to keep them safe for the next season.
The integrity of the season will already be undermined so clubs doing this can’t make it any worse.

If it does go ahead it makes a mockery of everything people in this country have been going through for the past 5 weeks or however long it's been. It's just not important, and taking unecessary risks and resources for a ****ing game of football massively takes the piss.

I would hope we just refuse. It's not even about our best players being risked or anything like that, they're all people, none of them should be risked. **** off Premier League.

No team will refuse to play. Not going to happen.

Agree that no team would refuse to play. But they can at least put forward their objection to any such proposals, in the loudest possible terms. And if enough teams object together, such a proposal doesn't get off the ground.

That said, there are all sorts of rumours about how the season might be concluded. So I take each with a pinch of salt. After all, today's PL meeting hasn't even taken place yet (I think).

The worrying point is that the government are potentially looking to do this as a distraction from the important stuff, and so that they can probably claim that they are “the party of football”.
I have seen in the paper this morning that a race horse trainer is worried that France and Germany will get their horse racing season up and running (pun intended), insisting that the UK mustn’t be left behind.
We need to realise that we are behind other countries in terms of when we were hit by the virus and in terms of our reaction to it, and act accordingly.

I’ve just heard a recording that was leaked from Bristol rovers players being told the latest news from EFL meeting. Don’t know how to get it on here, but basically still
Discussions going on. They don’t think season will continue. They said they don’t think they’ll be playing in front of fans again this YEAR. Lots of other chat about if they do play and it goes into July and how contracts will be affected and that Chairmen won’t pay severance pay for those who have contracts ending.

There's a beeb article on that recording if I'm thinking of the same one.
