I spoke to my sister yesterday and her life long friend is an administrator for the NHS (started as a hospital nurse then moved into care homes then onto admin). My sister said "The stories she told were shocking, especially in care homes where they pay staff nothing while the bosses drive around in flash cars. They are always cutting corners" .
Blimey, sorry to hear that Bob, condolences to all , glad to Hear Mrs Bob is on the mend though, and yes my wife hasn’t left the house in about 6 weeks I think ( I’ve lost count ) as she is the original paranoid android to quote a phrase.
Thanks for the ‘reply’ (even if it didn’t answer any part of my question - and it was a genuine question, not a ‘challenge’). And I’m not getting involved in the snide responses that are for the schoolyard. The ones that add real value to this horrible situation is what the thread is all about. The insights from people with real knowledge (thanks Beth and Stainsey), hearing real time views from people who are having to make decisions on working and the real challenges of not working and dealing with the changes to everyday life right now; those offering information on where they might get help; people contributing with their genuine analysis and explanatory challenges to the data - not just bashing and going on about ‘badges’ every other post. There are a lot of smart people here, with a lot to contribute. Just think we need to keep the bar high. I’m no expert, so I am genuinely interested in what is happening. Not in individuals political leanings or point scoring.
Then why did the government say there is plenty to go round? And that a ‘Herculean effort’ would ensure that distribution worked? Who’s ****ing fault is them lying? Who is ultimately accountable and responsible for the way this country deals with this pandemic?
Have you read it? I’m about halfway through. Do you have an inside scoop on why I shouldn’t believe it?
And the WHO were telling us on 24 February that international travel was fine and we just need to wash our hands. I’m never taking health advice from Roger Daltrey again. Won’t get fooled again? Balls.
I already know that there are a few holes starting to appear... especially about the Cobra meetings and our readiness. I will let everyone debate it to death without getting involved and wait for the truth or an apology from the paper. I must be honest when I first saw it posted I was shocked then I investigated. Sorry yes I read breakdowns that were posted on line.
Fair post. In the interest of keeping the bar high I’d be keen to discuss the Sunday Times’ article in about three weeks when I’ve finished reading it. It’s got something for everyone. China, Johnson, Brexit (apparently not the great stockpile saviour we’d been led to believe). And I’m only halfway in.
Ok. I appreciate this is likely to get as far as it ever does on your inside investigations, but what did you find? You aren’t obliged to answer but if you know something no one else does it’s more credible to say what it is.
I dont get this? What's fake? The lack of gowns, someone ringing Burberry, some other person ringing Burberry???
I’m afraid you appear to be playing the blame game, and no matter what is done or said you will still look for a scapegoat !!!
It's regarding the assessment from WHO (i believe ) with respect to our preparation and readiness. Also, there are some questions regarding the COBRA meetings. As I said I will let you debate it.
Read the post again, wether there is enough to go round or not is ****ing immaterial if the assholes at the goods in at several hospitals won’t open their goods in departments to allow delivery, I could have a ****ing billion masks but if the door isn’t open how do I deliver them, one at a time through the ****ing letterbox.
Well kind of fake, it was someone who is responsible for procuring kit for the NHS. Still, poor journalism. Thank god we have something trustworthy and unbiased like the Mail to turn to. Not that they would want to distract from their competitions attack on the way Johnson handled the strategy. Sometimes Ellers I genuinely suspect that you post based on whatever Conservative Central Office instructs it’s minions to do. Have you prepared your response to why we shouldn’t just copy what countries with a much lower death rate per million than us are doing? I know I probably gave too many potential comparators, I’ll make it simple for you, just one - New Zealand - English speaking island nation with a parliamentary democracy and love of liberty, easy to compare. I just pointed out that the government lied about PPE, you blamed the NHS. Think you will be in a pretty small squad blaming that scapegoat, good luck with it.
