There seem to be 3 groups developing.

The first are the eternal deniers and those who still think this is an overreaction.

The second are those who are taking it seriously but responsibly.

The third are the ones who have taken the news to some next level and gone completely fcking stoopid selfish!

Group 1 are almost all below 40 years of age and have no existing medical conditions. Ah modern relativist thinking.

maybe in Finland but not here in UK as a sizeable proportion of old folk still seem convinced this is an over reaction though that may be changing after this weekend ..

Old people will be like that, because someone who's 70, in their 30s something like a corona outbreak might have gone largely unnoticed and they think we're all too soft now (and they are right in many ways, but the world has changed in connectivity since they were with it) so I kinda understand why some of them are "whats all the fuss about". I'd say its also mainly the men of the older generation, especially those like me who wont see a doctor unless their arm is hanging off <laugh>

Group 1 on the other hand know ****ing better but dont care because they are not the high risk group. They are willing to accept (or just not think about) the deaths of large numbers of old and or sick people as long as its not their own family and friends.

On a lighter note, just seen this on the Saints board and it's brilliant:

You must log in or register to see media

If the police did that here, Nick Ferrari would dedicate a whole breafast show to it shouting "is this what we pay our taxes for" and rallying the troops of outraged little englanders to phone in and vent their spleens!

There is a lot of different groups.

My dad's 70 and very much an alpha male but he's pretty worried.

My nan however in her 80s seems less fussed.

No mate group 1 are the deniers. They believe it's no worse than the flu and it's all an overreaction. Many of these will include the older folk who consider living through the 70's was akin to living through the war and feel they've seen it all.

From the original post The first are the eternal deniers and those who still think this is an overreaction. which is why i pointed out your assumption that group 1 would almost exclusively be under 40 as it is just simply incorrect .

I covered the latter, and agree.

To have a position that you won't take precautions and will knowingly infect others, actions speak louder than disingenuous reasoning. They might say its nothing but read between the lines (they don't care if they are wrong, and dont know if they are right)

The 4th group for me would be those intentionally spreading it. It is happening, people are doing that.
Even when the fires kicked off in Australia, people went on spates of starting fires to add to the calamity, including one volunteer fireman. Some people are so disaffected and detached they want to see things like this, because it changes the world they are not happy with in the first place.

These times bring out the weirdos as well as the heroes
