Absolute rubbish and rubbish the way its being used. Perhaps some people prefer to possibly get a small percentage more of decisions correct over the negative impact its having on football, but for me I'd abandon it asap. I'd retain goal line decisions but not much else. The break up in play has been nothing short of horrific. It started with that Man C vs West Ham game earlier in the season and has continued. I personally do not enjoy watching **** like that and as far as I'm concerned it isn't even football when it gets that bad. If I had a quid for every time I've heard the words "Where is VAR now?" I'd have moved somewhere warm by now. There is no more consistency now with it in place is the crazy thing.

Football to me is about emotion. Its absolute garbage watching players not knowing whether they should bother celebrating, constant stoppages etc. That's without getting into the fact that its still an arbitrary decision made by someone in a room what is reviewed and what isn't. I honestly cannot understand why anyone who loves football in purest form wants the experiment to continue. I accept I'm in a minority though.

Its quite simple for me. Does VAR remove some of the emotive side of football from the game? Undoubtedly. That is a massive negative for me. Does VAR cause the game to be fragmented with stoppages? Undoubtedly on occasion. The best games of football I've watched are end to end with refs letting a bit go, and fans/players etc all emotionally involved in the game. VAR undoubtedly works against that so they can stick it.

Most of my mates want to see each side given two reviews per game. Football is nothing like cricket etc. It does not lend itself to this kind of approach. I admire that it was something brought in to improve the game. You should always be trying to be better and improve. However there is no shame in abandoning something once it becomes clear its ****.
Starting to come round to this way of thinking now. I thought it was good in the World Cup but I think that it is killing the entertainment value of the game for the fans with the delays. I would have a serious rethink about how it is used and would bin it off all together.

another good decision, to send Auba off for Arsenal
would only of been a yellow had the ref got his way
it was clear to see on replay that it was a red card
Var aside if that had been jonjo it would have been a straight red. But because it’s nice boy auba it was a yellow.

I get what you are saying regards Jonjo,
and for this reason I'm glad Var is in and got the correct decission in the end- straight red

I note that a lot of games are now reffed by inexperienced refs while the more experienced refs are 4th officials or VAR officials
VAR is hopefully bringing them all upto to the same standard,
although the game last night against Man city and Villa shows that refs can still influence the game
second half there was 6 subs, 3 goals and a penalty
when you consider that all goals are checked by VAR (delaying the re start)
and all penalties are checked by VAR (delaying the spot kick)
you have to wonder why the ref only played a maximum of 1 minute added time
it doesn't matter if Villa could not get back into the game or not
the fact is the ref manipulates the added time
how many time do we see at SJP the ref continue to play on despite added time being up if the opposition is attacking us and only blows
when the ball is cleared

Correct under the rules. Rules made by people with half a brain. I suppose that is probably appealing to mouse brains like yourself.

I would argue the rules being adhered to means im right. What you think should happen based on your emotional desire is an innacurate pathway to truth.

Football is entertainment though and if VAR is spoiling that entertainment it needs to be looked at accordingly. The need for all decisions to be correct should come 2nd to ensuring that the paying public are entertained. The term referee implies arbitrator so let him arbitrate. Give him aids to assist like linesmen and goal line technology which don't interrupt the enjoyment of the spectacle

People moan when things dont go there way ... thats why var is here. Years of moaning about it not being fair.. now thet moan when var gets thing right ..

People make emotional decisions and then look for any excuse to back up their emotional decision and thats a fact .

This is why the opinions from fans, pundits etc are not a reliable source.. and that includes me, but this decision was correct ... ..

People are not moaning about VAR getting decisions right - they are moaning about the game being less enjoyable to watch.

it was worth an experiment - its not working as its not improving the entertainment so bin it.

Years of moaning about it not being fair.. CORRECT
now thet moan when var gets thing right NOT ME

We all want a level playing field as far as the football is concerned and var is the only way we can get some sort of equality
for me its the time it takes to get to these decissions that is the problem
I'm sure this will be ironed out for next season

Indeed

I think these.people forget how entertained they feel when they lost to an incorrect offside goal, no contact pens and red cards.

And guess which teams benefited from.more of them.?? The big clubs with more fans and more people brainwashing the media now things are going against them

I disagree. As a saints fan, we have had more go our way than against, but its still destroying my enjoyment. I want to see players reeling away in celebration when they score. Now they look subdued. And then the really tight offside that goes your way, and its celebrated like a goal. What a massive cringe that is. VAR will turn people away from a sport they have long loved. Its just a matter of time.

That really doesn't make sense. By your logic most fans would be moaning about VAR 50% of the time. What I see on forums is people either in favour or against and not changing their views based on decisions their teams are getting.

You clearly have not understood my explanation on emotional decision making ..

Its a fact

Nothings changed it just more fair.

It would be an interesting exercise at the end of the season to look at the ratio of decisions referred to VAR that went for and against each team. If that ratio is close to 1 for all teams then all it is achieving is slowing the game down.

It doesnt really matter whether you agree its a fact about decision making mate.

Everyone will moan with or without var but now its fair.

Yeah **** the game, as long as the decisions are correct it doesn't matter if the game is worse. Allegedly brought in because bad decisions were spoiling peoples enjoyment. Corrects a few decisions but still completely arbitrary what is reviewed, and game enjoyment being spoiled more than previously.

Not really achieved its goal has it <laugh>
