There is no way imo that this all hinges on a planning application. They take months and months and can have appeals etc. I'm sure you can check to see what planning applications have been made? Would certainly put this rumour to bed.
The Dell boys may indeed have ambitions to do various things but they will be way down the line.
Imagine trying to put a planning application in on premises you dont legally own...how does that work?
I have only ever been ITK once by chance and that was in regards to Craig Gordon signing when all the media were saying he had talks with us and was travelling to Villa to talk to them. The company my late uncle worked for sponsored SAFC at the time and he was told Gordon had signed and sure enough he had.
Anyway by chance I got talking to someone last night who will definitely know stuff given their business and links to SAFC ever since Reidys days. They have been told announcement on Monday or Tuesday next week. Fingers crossed

To be fair no one has said that a planning application has been made, or that the deal hinges on it. If you're wanting to develop land etc however, you can discuss at an early stage well before planning goes in. If it is felt that a huge investment opportunity may be lost, the council(s) might be more open to these discussions as they will want to ensure it happens. Sounds like they'd complete the purchase regardless, but if holding off strengthens their hand somewhat it makes sense to do so since there's no real rush to push it through

Yeah mate your right..just checked.
Also checked planning applications at South Tyneside and nothing

1967-1987 I was a bricklayer (some say I was no good )
However I can hardly bend now
So probably no good
You will be fine mate, we will find you a decent labourer and make sure the brickwork is where you don't have to bend down

This is the issue with most I think. It’s not that we DONT believe it, it’s that we CANT believe it because we’re Sunderland. My natural instinct with this club is to anticipate the kick in the balls. Good things rarely happen to us, and when they do it’s usually followed by that toepunt.

I don’t doubt it’s going to happen, but until it’s officially announced I’ll be standing with my legs crossed and hands over my knackers - just incase!

I have to agree with this mate, like most SAFC fans I'm bi-polar when it comes to support.
In the face of all evidence to the contrary I believe we have a chance of winning every match.
Yet I refuse to allow myself to get excited over this because I want to prepare for the worst.
Even though the circumstantial evidence and lack of an 'its off' announcement all points to it going through.

SAFC man - at the same time they've given me some of my favourite moments / experiences and simultaneously ruined my life.

Hope you're right about the announcement marra.

Might be wrong but pretty sure you can apply for planning permission on land that you don't own.

Obviously a risk of spending money on the application and then not getting ownership of the land so being unable to carry out the development
You can ,Ive personally done it myself .The sake of the land centred around the planning permission going through or not .
