Shame we demolished so many old warehouses and buildings, we would have an internationally enviable waterfront and old town.

Let's raise a glass to the day they decide to demolish the Princes Quay shopping centre.

Truly a massive mistake to build that ****.
Campaigned against building it at the time. As did Francis Daly who was investing in the old town of Hull long, long before it became fashionable. He told me himself many times that the council fought him every step of the way over every planning application. So much so that he eventually upped sticks and moved out of the area.
Wonder why Liverpool Council never built a shopping centre in Albert Dock ?

He didn’t up sticks, I think he still lives in Swanland and owns many local sites, including the 1884 building, he recently sold his portfolio of 45 flats in Hull for £3.2m.

Never mind- we've still got that big mosaic off the front of the BHS store. A priceless cultural legacy which will enhance the city centre for decades to come and pull in the tourists.

Bit like the Dead Bod thing, some larky painter channelling his inner Tony Hart and Pay Keysel on a shed on the docks.

Book early.

'He sold his portfolio of 45 flats in Hull' is 'upping sticks' where I come from.
My point was he was behind most of the better refurbishments in the old town a long time before anyone else saw the potential. Best example was the Waterfront hotel/club. He wanted the Humber Ferry moored in Princes Dock, but the council wanted a shopping complex on stilts.
The council did fight him every step of the way because he told many of the tales and he got sick of fighting them.

Might have missed someone posting this?
