Luxembourg ... population same as Glasgow
Think everyone under 16 gets free travel in London. Should that be means tested? After half 9 here buses are a lot cheaper due to the idea that those using them at that time will be unemployed. Should you have to produce a letter from the dole to the bus driver?

There will never be a perfect system but getting het up because someone else is getting something cheap or free is daft.

I don't get this **** about people getting free stuff tbh. Especially pensioners. The UK is one of the worst countries in Europe for state pensions. Our pensioners get a pittance. Most have paid into the system all their lives and are made to feel like a leech when they retire at whatever age the Government has decided we have to work too this week.

Pay a decent pension I say. Free public transport, fuel, rent and the BBC should be told to go stick their TV licence up their hole.

Power to the pensioners.

I've had this arguement many times
...

But it's simple

Anything that can be provided by the state , benefits , scripts , travel , should be but only to those with a genuine need.

If you have money , you should contribute more .

That goes for non chronic or potential terminal illness NHS treatment as well.

You do contribute though. They call it national insurance.

But you voted for the Tories?

I have done

I have voted labour

Every election is different for me and I vote accordingly

There is not one party I agree with in a majority

Last GE, I vote green ...

Last Scottish election, I voted green ...

Tory and labour were not viable options

Why is letting people travel free nonsense? Older people have given us the society we have today with all its benefits, why what's wrong with chucking them free ****?

60 is neither "old" nor pensionable age, it's a totally random age to be doling out free travel as most 60 year olds are in full time work. Why throw £200m down the drain when it could be better spent elsewhere?

£200m ffs, we could build a couple of hospitals for that.
