Mmm..not sure about that mate but fair play. I'm convinced now the officials can no longer keep up with the game at the top level so anything to help them out works for me.
Might improve things a tad but papering over cracks I fear. Many Top flight footballs are super athletes today and don't think twice about cheating in a game were one mistake could cost you millions or a title. Th big knobs in football don't want to be seen too leave anything to chance,especially in this digital age.

It always 2 and occasionally 3 games out of the 6 each week, during the easter and magic fixtures its more and for Catalans its every home game, that said I agree with your point it should be there for all games.
Although cost the relative cost for a RL team is quite high not all games are televised like in the PL so not only do you need the VAR system itself but you need a dozen live cameras too. The cost for a PL team is so minuscule that the entire league could have it installed tomorrow.
Yet people in this very thread have moaned that the controversial decisions people love to discuss after a game will be gone as a result of VAR.
So which one is it?
Like that's actually an issue to be bothered about, everything is sponsored from the match ball to the stoppage time board, even the bloody play clock is sponsored for TV games, as if one more sponsor will make the slightest bit of difference.
The big screens at the KCOM are used for advertising for 90% of the game anyway, having to show VAR replays will probably reduce the total amount of adverts on the screens.
It’s what I said. Though I’m not sure anyone is complaining that controversies will be a thing of the past. They are complaining that they’ll still happen, despite the time taken for a review. I think.

I like the analogy although I would question why you'd keep stubbing your toe if you know what's causing it and how to avoid it, seems masochistic to me!
Pardew made a good point following the Liverpool-WBA game. Well I think it was him anyway. He said the refs don't actually know what a penalty is at the moment. It's a good point because there's so much inconsistency around grabbing and grappling, handball or ball to hand, dive or 'entitled to go down'. It wouldn't be a difficult things to just clarify these matters with a simple rule or directive that states how the refs will handle these incidents from now on. I don't think it's an issue of vision for the refs usually, it's their opinion on subjective matters being too inconsistent, and when it's so difficult to make these subjective calls, they're obviously going to more susceptible to external influences like the home crowd or moaning players and managers.
Liverpool getting a penalty for that Livermore/Salah incident was cringeworthy, because it'd never in a million years have been given normally, the VAR almost gave him an excuse to give the penalty because he was able to find some 'contact' even though it was absolutely bugger all and Salah had milked the **** out of it.
The last thing the game needs right now is to promote even more ****ing soft penalties. 50% of the game now is just going down in the box and making sure someone touches you.
Technology in football is welcome, but VAR isn't even technology, it's just messing about making the game into a cringey reality show for the sake of it. It feels like it's being introduced more for marketing and 'buzz' reasons than anything to do with football.

I think you're right to an extent, until the rules are refined to make them less subjective then decisions are always going to be opinion based, in which case VAR won't necessarily help.
I see no reason why it can't be used for offsides, mistaken identity and even dangerous tackles, they are pretty clear cut and there's no excuse for getting them wrong.
If players were just honest the issue would be solved anyway, it's the incessant need to cheat and con the referee that causes most of the problems in the first place. Salah was getting nowhere near that ball, so threw himself on the floor to get a penalty instead, however much we like to criticise referees that's the players fault for creating the situation in the first place.
Personally I think what constitutes a penalty needs reviewing, a foul on the edge of the 18 yard box with the attacker running away from goal should never be a penalty, nor should a push on a player that has no chance of winning the ball. It should be for stopping an obvious goal scoring opportunity only, this would take away the incentive to dive or cheat in situations when the player would otherwise not score.
I agree with most of that but as you mentioned offsides, that disallowed goal in the same game was ridiculous. No one would have cared that Barry was technically stood a milimetre offside when the ball briefly went past him, affecting the game in absolutely no way. Such a ridiculous technicality to disallow a goal for, but again, the VAR seemed to give the ref an excuse to go and spend time finding something to disallow it for. I thought the leap to win the header was more controversial than where Barry was stood, but more to the point, the Liverpool defence was an absolute joke for that set piece, and that's what the talking point should have been; not a bloody offside.
