This is exactly what I was thinking earlier. He wouldn’t say anything that Gao hadn’t endorsed, which is the most depressing thing of all. The Liebherr dream has died I’m afraid.
I just pressed 'like'. I obviously don't like it, I just agree.

Good analogy, the way they played in that second half!I've said before I think the Liebherr dream really died with Markus. Kat wasn't exactly a bad owner but she wasn't really interested.
Which is completely understandable, the scale is different but it's probably a bit like inheriting your dad's prized collection of, I dunno... garden gnomes or something.
I wonder how much Ralph's comments are being directed by Mr Gao.

He probably had to promise the Chinese government that he wouldn’t put a penny more investment into Southampton FC!I never blamed Kat for wanting to sell. Now, it's a slightly different matter that she decided to sit on the asset to maximize her profit, and then sold us to a dodgy businessman who had to jump through hoops to raise the money, and who had to turn state's evidence to avoid prison (or execution).

Or promise to recoup some of the money. The great unknown is where the money to buy the team actually came from: we know that Gao was raising funds via debt, but we don't know if this is because he didn't have the money, or simply didn't have liquidity outside of the Chinese mainland to use.
Officially, we have no debt as a club. Unofficially, we might now have 200m that Gao needs to service, if he raised all of the money through debt and doesn't have the ability to cover it personally.
Good timing aswell ralph.a couple of hours before a big game, the team need support but i bet that interview has put alot of fans on a downer.
I shudder to think what st marys will be like if we fall behind to a goal or two tonight. Still,if we play like we did against man u then we should be ok
Looked like a pretty empty stadium to me on MOTD. Plenty of empty seats almost an embarrassing amount of them!!!
Right just listened to the audio, and at the risk of being controversial, I don't see a great deal wrong in what he's said. Be interested to know if it's come from him or Gao though.
But a few examples :
A league aa competitive as this, only small percentages can make you go up or down the table? Agreed.
A season finishing 8th and reaching a cup final is a great achievement for a club of our size? Yep...
We've had a great few years but that doesn't mean we should forget who we are and what stature we carry? ****ing spot on for me.
I see why people might moan that 'ambition has changed' but for someone like me who never bought into regular European football etc. I don't mind hearing that too much, it's unrealistic to think we will get CL or whatever and I think those unrealistic goals have contributed to the negativity - ie talk of top four finishes but selling top players constantly doesn't add up.
Not in financial might. We were 10th in revenues in the 2015-16 season in England (and 22nd in the world). We earned a hair more than Everton, and we'd all laugh uproariously if their chairman came out and declared that they were mere minnows without two pence to rub together.
22nd in the world means nothing unless you finish in a Euro spot. Unless we are planning to apply for SerieA and dominate them because of our financial superiority.
We are 10th in this league. Not in intranational competition so the world position means nothing.
It matters in terms of our ability to source talent.
