Yeah, sure. But had that happened both sports would have a lot of questions to answer this morning.

Not that I care on that front, I lost interest in boxing a long while back, it's died a bit of a death unfortunately. No pun intended of course.
I've never really been interested in MMA, or whatever it's called.

Just because that Pikey used to go to Thailand and knock people out for fun.. no need to jerk off skiddy.

Not even sure he went to Thailand but I do know western fighters kick arse over there for fun.
I go regularly to these Muay Thai events some of the westerners, especially the boxers punch better but it's not always just about that. I've never seen a puncher who can kick like the thai's.

But they can kick nearly as well and punch 10 times better. Hardly any Thai fighters would make the UFC circuit.

A lot of western fighters enter tournaments over your way purely for fitness.

Bit like a preseason friendly. But the Thais take it seriously.

Both sports should have a lot to answer for tbh. They've just mugged world off for billions of pounds.

It is what it is I guess <ok>

The more blood and injury the better imo.

All I know is when I used to enjoy a chaotic tear up I'd take the biggest and baddest weapon available and try and do as much damage as possible. I never got paid for ****, just loved the excitement.

Either make it a combat sport or ban it. No inbetween imo.

Boxing is a sport, it's not street fighting. The fact that it is a full contact sport, which carries such a high level of risk, is all the more reason that the participants should be able to defend themselves. And that when they are unable to, the referee steps in to protect them from serious harm.

Arguably the most ferocious - and entertaining - boxer of recent times was also one of the best schooled and hardest to hit. Iron Mike Tyson was one of the most technically adebt fighters of his generation, at least when he was young and he had Teddy Atlas and Kevin Rooney in his corner. You literally couldn't lay a glove on him, until the notoriety and the lack of decent people around him got the better of him.

The best boxers - the true greats of the ring - are the ones who know how top avoid taking unnecessary punishment. Some of those, like Muhammed Ali, discover that they are able to take a punch, and begin to allow their durability to take precedence over defensive technique; fighters like that usually get hurt in the end.

I don't think any genuine fan of boxing, and certainly no one who has ever boxed, wants to see a fighter get hurt in the ring.

I have no time for MMA or UFC by the way - it's not sport, it's glorified pub scrapping, and imo it's far more boring than a good bout between two skilled boxers.

That's all fair shout. I spent a fair bit of my youth hanging around a boxing gym but lacked any discipline.

I just get bored of point scoring boxing. People like Tyson are dying breed, unfortunately.

Personally much prefer UFC. Purely because it's brutal.

I guess I like to watch a fight more than the skill involved in just getting the win.

It's like McGregor said..he made Mayweather fight like a Mexican..he had to do that or he would have got battered eventually or feared he would have with his I'll defend till you all bored style.

McGregor's downfall was not being conditioned to last the 12 which in itself is baffling..but I suppose it takes a bit longer than a year to condition yourself to last 8 rounds more than you are used to. To make out as though this was FM's plan is absurd..the prick was turning his back on everything because his front could not defend the attacks coming his way in the first 4 rounds.

In the end his experience of being a boxer won it and fair enough but to call McGregor ****e is a poor do and stinks of boxing snobbery to me...fair play to Conor for having the balls to take on a champion at his own sport...fair fackin play.

I anticipated before the fight that McGregor would be carried through the first few rounds, then Mayweather would turn it on, however watching it McGregor was causing Mayweather problems with the extra reach and was quite awkward/dirty using repeated rabbit punches. I am absolutely shocked that McGregor seemed to conserve energy and keep his punch output low, though higher than defensive Mayweather, and yet was still gassed after 4 rounds. Even in round 3 his balance seemed to go to pot as he was moving around.

McGregor used his reach well, but ultimately he has **** all power in this sport, no stamina, and while he got whooped by a great, that great is old and retired. I reckon any active boxer would have launched McGregor into row z. He needs to stick to UFC where the match is usually over in a second when one or the other has slipped onto the floor. Good salesman though.

Because he didn't want to kill or severely damage him maybe?

People are refusing to acknowledge this.

Floyd was being careful when punching Connor, it was so obvious.

Anyone who has seen Floyd fight saw how he didn't really bother with the body even though Connors stance was so open his ribs had a target on them.

This fight was fixed so Connor could bitch slap and Floyd would let it last a while

He's never been conditioned for three UFC rounds (5mins each = 15min total) so he was never going to be able to do twelve rounds (36mins) of boxing

Mayweather deserves way more credit tbf. Every man and his dog said he couldn't KO McGregor and that's exactly what he was doing before the ref stopped it.

The guy is 40 years old and was throwing combo's out like he was mid-20's in the 10th round. While his 28 year old opponent was blowing out of his arse.

McGregor would get more props from me if he didn't act like a cocky **** putting his hands behind his back etc. Fair play to him for agreeing to have his face mashed up for £75m

Imagine what either of these guys would have done to the Irish Pikey big mouth.

Given he's not a boxer I'm sure they'd have beaten him comfortably. Sky and their American equivalents have basically mugged people off into paying £20 to watch a result everyone knew was going to happen and now people are moaning about it.

Let's see if Jordan Speith can beat Federer at tennis next.
