The reason McGregor was stopped was because he couldn't physically defend himself, warrior or not, his brain was wobbling around in his skull and he was heading into dangerous territory according to a professionally qualified referee.

Thanks Tobes, I saw the highlights on SSN earlier, It did look like he was on top for the first 3 rounds though but experience showed later though.

He wasn't boring in his 'Pretty Boy Floyd' days.

For me, he's top 3-4 ever.

He battered him the first 2 rounds. If he had a new fitness/conditioning coach he'd destroy him.

Floyd earned his money this night...

    Certainly wasn't boring either.

Interestingly, I thought he lost this fight.

So did at least one of the judges <ok>

Don't think either of them fancied the rematch. Shame it never happened.

Suited both that they're wasn't a rematch. FMJ got the win while Del LA Hoya could argue that he'd been robbed etc.

It would have been epic though.

    A tear up...

First time I heard that was about 30+ yrs ago, it was Nigel Benn's description of most of his fights.

Used to come out like a hurricane and rip into the other guy. Problem was, if he hadn't finished by the fifth, he was ****ed..

I'm not sure what you're laughing at?

You don't think he could have? Or you think he should have? For the crack, like.

**** it, kill the ****. Are we not entertained?

I think he could have taken the Pikey out anytime he wanted but that would have royally pissed off the mugs that paid to see it. The whole thing was a debacle. The Pikey didn't have any combinations and slapped pushed with his left hand.

True. I'm not too keen on modern day boxing tbh..

I think my posts possibly reflect that!

I think at the first opportunity he should have knocked him out, can't see why he didn't - possibly due to it being rigged? Can't see any other plausible reason why you don't go for the knockout in a combat sport.

    Maybe I'm old school.

Just because that Pikey used to go to Thailand and knock people out for fun.. no need to jerk off skiddy.

Not even sure he went to Thailand but I do know western fighters kick arse over there for fun.

Even by the standards of 1867, when the Marquess of Queensbury Rules were implemented, I think your view of the noble art would have been considered a bit crude.

That's not then point I'm making though mate.

Everyone loves a knock out but Mayweather is bigger and technically on another planet to McGregor.

Say he'd thought '**** it, I'll knock the **** out' (I'm paraphrasing!) then the consequences could have been dire for McGregor.

The more blood and injury the better imo.

All I know is when I used to enjoy a chaotic tear up I'd take the biggest and baddest weapon available and try and do as much damage as possible. I never got paid for ****, just loved the excitement.

Either make it a combat sport or ban it. No inbetween imo.
