West Ham apparently want to sign Yaya Toure as their marquee summee purchase. Their recruitment policy is so ****ed.
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/05/1...idering-reigniting-interest-in-southampton-s/ Apparently WHU were interested in Long and may be interested again. I like Long as I think he brings pace to the team and I'd like to see him play with Manolo...and not subbed for him. Comes down to what Shane thinks really....and whether we sign another striker.
Bertrand is contracted to 2021. I'll be astounded if we flog him. It's less than a year since we extended his contract. I know I'm repetitive on this subject but since the meltdown summer (when I think a few Cortese verbal promises were cashed in) we haven't got rid of a single player, not one, with more than two years left on their contract. I know that past performance may not be an indicator, etc, but it's been a clear pattern since then. Vin
Totally agree. Hopefully the same will apply to Virgil this summer. Ignore this nonsense that if a player wants out they get out - contracts can stop this, even if it is simply delaying the inevitable for another season or 2. It will come down to whether our board have a backbone or not - and may be effected by any potential takeover.
If we can keep VvD and Bertrand and perhaps add a goalscoring midfielder we will have had a very good summer, I can only hope !
Chamberlain joining Liverpool in the summer apparently, taken the scenic route but got there in the end. Anyone know if we had a sell on clause?
But who will do next seasons End of Season Awards night? Maybe he realised there will be hardly any players left and had foresight to know if he moved to Merseyside he will still be dishing out awards to Southampton players. Ed is a smart cookie...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...arrison-Reed-interested-loan-Southampton.html Talk that Harrison Reed is in no hurry to sort out a permanent move, but is interested in a loan move to get more playing time. Perfectly understandable as he has fallen out of contention under Puel.
So far the players leaving this summer are:- VVD, Bertrand, Cedric, Tadic, Long, Jay Rod, possibly Fraser, oh, and now Romeu. Bloody Hell, who would want to be saints manager next season? http://sportwitness.co.uk/first-ste...outhampton-transfer-contact-player-initiated/
€15m is nowhere near the amount that he I see worth to us. Signed a new contract in Jan. No way I'd allow him to leave. Besides I don't think he'd kick up a fuss and want to go.
