To say that it would be any different is wrong.

However to think that the enjoyed benefits for business won't be hit and that rather than grudging partners that the cac and dax won't go for londonderry jugular is equally wrong.

Of course we won't be enemies. We'll be on good terms. But it is a huge commitment to take on passport control in Calais. The daily lives of their residents have been and are disrupted by the sheer number of people wanting to cross the channel. And UK border control is a national uk responsibility. Why would they take it on if we are no longer EU members?

We are currently rudderless, with a prime minister whose power is draining away by the hour.

The decision is taken. 72% turned up which is at least 10% shy of the numbers there should have been given the size of decision.

Power to the people... But as Churchill (the politician, not the insurance dog voiced by Bob Mortimer) once said about democracy, it's the worst system there is, apart from all the others.
